Purely for "combat" = self defense, right?
For my little Bersa .380, three 9-round mags.

I'd love to buy five more.

5-10

If I can get full capacity...usually 5 per + 2 Brady Cap's for range use.

If post-94 model, I generally try for 7 Brady Cap's.

The more the better.

A dozen or more for the Makarovs. 6 factory mags for the Ruger, and I'm comfortable with that. 2 factory and one Promag for the CZ, and I regard that as a minimum.

Three sets of three:

- 1 loaded mag in the gun and two loaded spares.

- 1 set kept loaded in the Summer & Winter

- 1 set lept loaded in the Spring & Fall

- 1 virgin set

I have one Glock 17L, one Bubits stock and nine mags (3x17, 2x19, 1x31, 3x33). I plan to turn the 31rd mag into a heavy mag for static matches by replacing the long spring with a short 17rd one and filling the gap with a steel block. Then I'll have to buy another 33rd one and a few more 19ers.
