22". I wanted to get the scout, but my wife said longer is better. I didn't ask her how she knows....

as of yesterday Im finally a proud owner of one!!!!!!!
one of my most desired rifles is now fullfilled!!!!!
its a earlier 05xxxx serial national match.....in excellent condition!
pics will be coming,btw I aquired 2 beautiful Garands also,and a M4 Bushmaster...phew!!!
I was looking high and low for either a Fulton,Armscorp or earlier Springfield,didn't really want a NM but when I saw it....that was it...
can we get a oh yeah?!!!!!

Not to change the subject but The m14 is probably my favorite all time gun.Hopefully one I will own,but I can't decide whether I want a socom or standard.On the one hand,The socom is lighter and shorter making it easier for a person of my "not-quite-tom-cruise-but-not-quite-Shaq-either" height and stature.On the other hand One of my favorite things about the m14 is the beautiful wood stock,which doesn't seem to be available for the socom.and the standard has better range and accuracy because of the barrel.Can anyone shed some light?

Buy the scout... the best of all worlds.
I have heard people with the other 2 barrel lenghts say they wanted a different one, but people with the 18" seem content.
I have shot all 3, and If I could only have one it would be the 18"
Just replace the muzzle break with a Smith flash hider...

I'd like to buy one from the guys in New York, the claim is the forged receiver is better the investment cast. I really don't know what investment cast is.
