How many shooters are also musicians?

Clarinet, bass clarinet, contra-alto clarinet, I messed with bassoon for a year (but didn't like it), and I'm working on alto sax (mostly to figure out sax in general, then move to tenor or bari; yeah, I like being in the bassline).

Never got into the strings; wouldn't mind learning percussion and/or piano. Unashamed jazz bum, and I love the idea of a fifteen- or twenty-piece jazz ensemble with everybody carrying 1911's.

I don't play anything, but I'm obsessed with music, and spend more money on music and audio equipment than guns, easily.

I play trombone, used to play guitar and some piano. I'm not a 1911 fan, but I have other handy tools :)

I noticed on another board that the majority of people there seemed to also be into electronics (professionally), either hardware or software. I wonder how many here do/ did electronics or deal with software, web design, coding, programming & debugging?? (Not including the typical end user platforms)

Been playing guitar for 35 years...longer than I've been shooting.
Lately I've been shooting more than playing.

Currently have an Ovation Celebrity Classic 12-string...but 10mm is a tough competitor for my time. :D

More trombone players than expected.

King trombone (high school band)
no-name classical guitar
Raphael acoustic guitar (cheapie)
1969 Gibson j50 acoustic (there's a picture of my great grandfather playing it in an old issue of National Geographic)
1957 Gibson acoustic electic guitar (not sure of model at the moment, but it's my baby)

I want to learn piano and fiddle.

Norinco sks
Mossberg 500
1893 spanish mauser
1930 Mosin Nagant
Ruger 10/22
Ruger 22/45
NEF .32 mag
Taurus pt 92
M1 carbine
cheap single shot 20 ga (hardest kicking sob ever)
Carcano
Rossi .38 special
had a glock 22, but sold it
couple others that escape me at the moment

My grass is blue

Mandoline , 6 string Takamine - (had that one since '75), 12 string Tacoma guitars.

I like to play the old time traditional stuff, also Kottke & Bromberg .

MacPelto, do you guys ever play at bars around town?

Yep, our next gig is on St. Pat's day. We're playing at a place called B.D. Riley's on 6th st. I think it's 2-5 PM, or some such. You and any other THR members are encouraged to come see us if you can.

Cheers

Started playing sax, then switched to bass. Then I ended up working in a local shop that did traditional instruments. Picked up pipes, dulcimer (mountain and hammered), indian flute, and just about every drum you can carry around with you. Got into wood working and started making tone drums. Now my musical inventory is a little lite, got a few basses left, a ricky a precision with a jazz neck, a yamaha 5 string and a nice little custom 5 string. Run all of them thru an old SWR studio 220 and a 15" cab of my own design. I also have an old mountain dulcimer that keeps me occupied from time to time. Funny, I've never had the desire to play guitar at all. Mostly played heavy metal and blues, but I come with a bluegrass pedigree.

Currently carrry a Taurus p145, but I'm transitioning to a 1911.

I play the drums, I don't know if you could call it music though. More like a gorilla with rhythm. Haven't played in awhile though.

I do play a wicked CD player, and I"m learning the MP3 Player as well.

I played classical violin for 12 years when I was a kid. Quit when I graduated from high school and didn't touch it for 20 years. Last April, I decided I wanted to play Bluegrass, and started taking banjo lessons. Two months later, I bought a mandolin, and two weeks after that I started playing fiddle and mando in a Blugrass band. Most fun I've had in a long time.

I used my guitar money on guns

I have two guitars now a beat up applause and a new 200$ washburn electric
that I'm trying to figure out.
I used to have a really cool old acoustic Gibson....in a previous life I was a cool punk rocker hanging out with the Ramones the Clash and Michelle Shocked taught me how to play guitar I was a very active new york liberal street musican in the early eighties going to all the protest and strumming Phil Och's and Dylan and Woody. A lot of my friends made it in the music biz (I got Chris Whitley his first gigs at studio ten, near CBGB)
thanks to Clinton and his shoddy treatment of Monica and the peace protesters
staying home in droves when Clinton bombed Iraq and later when I wanted to buy a gun and get a ccw in SF,CA, thanks to Schumer, Boxer , & Fienstein
I became a Pro Life Pro Gun Conservative.
I still like good music, but the politics of most musicians leaves alot to be desired

What's up with everybody naming musical instruments? The question was "How many..." I'm guessing 12,483,631. Anybody got a better guess?

Drummer here (2 years), mostly metal (except hair metal ;) ) I also like rock, blues and jazz. Currently shooting a 12 guage, and dreaming of a 1911. I played cello in Jr. High, guitar in Jr. High and part of High School, and electric bass for a few years before drums.

I play bass and sing/scream in a punk band. I'm gonna write some pro-2A songs soon I think. Very inspired.

I can play guitar, drums, and the nose-flute, too.
Anyone else familiar with the nose-flute? It's really cool.

I should have shared how "untalented" I am before.

3 folks have said they would pay me to NOT bring a harmonica, or attempt to play one when I show up to meet up.

I do not charge to share what little I know about shotguns...that is just me having fun, sharing, passing forward...
...stupid me could have made ammo money all along and didn't realize it. All I had to do was stick a harmonica in my hip pocket...:D

Gotta be a way to do "Copperhead Road" on one of them things...I got a whole new plan. :uhoh:

I have to concur with Vincent Furnier (aka Alice Cooper):
"If you're listening to a rock star in order to get your information on who to vote for, you're a bigger moron than they are." - Alice Cooper

sm...

I don't care what ya say, I still like The Devil's Right Hand as well as Copperhead Road. Kinda reminds me of The Long Riders.

Classical Organist Here - studied pipe organ in college... both concert and sacred music. Didn't have the talent to compete as a concert organist so worked in the pipe organ building business in Germany and USA back in the 1970's before going on to a business career in industrial distribution. Have digital computer organ at home so I still get a chance to practice some. Love to shoot and for past year have enjoyed competing in the Sportsman's Team Challenge event. Firearms - kind of like old cars which are also a passion.... I like lots of different types - have H&K USP's; couple 1911's, single action army's; Colt and S&W wheel guns, M1A, Moisin Nagant, and yes even a cheap old SKS and Enfield .308 from India. Lately, have gotten away from the big "boomers" and have enjoyed shooting .22 rifle and pistol (must be my age) and also trap, skeet, and 5 stand. As with music, shooting or anything else one cares to improve upon, it takes practice, practice, practice. Fun tho'. This was a great idea for a thread... pretty nift to see all the different interests folks have.
