How many "Wal-Mart" guns do you own?

three, a mossberg 500, CVA .50 muzzleloader and a rugger 10/22all the others were bought at either the syracuse gun show, gander mountain or CMP

None: I will not support Walmart in Maryland. Every time you buy Ammunition you must sign a list that ask questions a mile long. In comes the State Police and gathers up the information. I don't know what they do with it, I don't think that it is state law that they garner information and make it mandatory that you volunteer said information. Info going into the wrong hands that is beyond mine and anyone elses control is a no no in my book.

Thats odd. I have never had to do that down here. Man living up North must suck.

It's by state not store. We live in one state but very close to a Wal-Mart that is in another. Your ask if the ammo is for a handgun or rifle in in the other state and they will look at your ID for age. None of that happens here, but does in all stores in the other state, not just wally's.

Just one right now Mossberg 100 ATR 30-06. Most of my collection is mil surplus rifles a few handguns and AR's - that they don't carry. I wouldn't hesitate to get more from them if they had a larger selection!

Possibly One................

I have a local dealer that can't stand looking at Savages. I bought a used, as new 1 10 in .270, scope and all for $235. Accurate out of the box. It now sports a Timney trigger, a factory laminated stock, Burris mounts and a new V3 Weaver. I suspect it was a Wal Mart package gun. In spite of it's probable heritage I'm as happy as a Pig in mud...........Essex

Two. A Ruger 10/22 (the Wally World Special- SS witha 22 inch barrel), and a Winchester 1300. Both are just fine. I also get most of my ammunition from Walmart.

Support your local dealers

No thanks. Especially when the local dealers charge way too much. I deal with ONE dealer because he is reasonable on prices and stocks what walmart doesn't- like EBRs. Consequently, he doesn't do much of the hunting rifles and such.

Seeker: "None...though I was once tempted by a 10/22 International w/ full-length green/gray wood...."

Well, I'm glad you didn't, I did buy that sweet little rifle and love it!

Actually I'm of two minds on WM vs. Local Dealers. On the one hand, I would like to support the "little guy" and do so when it's rational. On the other hand, sometimes it's not rational. I mean many - most - of the small dealers in my area are jerks who seem to think (1) they are the know-it-alls and put out some pretty bizarre tales and (2) they seem to feel the world owest them a (lucrative) living! Meaning they have some pretty high prices on everything they stock, far higher than is justified, and only offer a pittance on trades.

Actually, I'd rather deal with a retail clerk in WM who admits he/she knows little or nothing about firearms than a BS shooter in a retail store who covers grand ignorance with equally grandly errorouneous info.

A GOOD local dealer can be hard to find but is worth supporting if you do.

I buy ammo from them when they have it for a good price, though I can usually get better deals at local gun shops. Never bought a gun from them.

One: A Beretta 390 12-bore. It was the best decision for the money. I'd do it again in a heart-beat. My only gripe was that the transaction took about an hour and a half.

My First gun, A savage .22 was from waly world.

I was shooting a BB gun in the back yard and decided I should try a real one, so I headed to walmart.. :p

That was maybe 3 years ago? (I'm 23) :neener:

As you can see below I have become somewhat addicted.

One - a stainless Ruger 10/22T model. None of the local shops had one or had ever seen one.

I found it on the website WM used to have with the rifles and shotguns they carried in-store or that you could order at the store. Printed out what I wanted and showed it to the young lady in Sporting Goods. Paid 1/2 at time of order and the other 1/2 when the rifle arrived about 10 days later. I got a few strange looks at the layaway counter from the soccer moms, but overall it was a pleasant experience. I'm still very pleased with the rifle and the price I paid. I would purchase firearms from WM again if my wife and kids wouldn't keep spending all of my money :D

I have 2 right now (not including the Red "You'll shoot your eye out, kid." Ryder Daisy)..My .30-30 Marlin and Mossberg ATR-100 .30-06

Had one of those FIE knock-offs of the Colt Frontier Scout .22LR/Mag SAA style, not sure who the first Mrs. Foggy gave that one to...But it was a Wal-mart purchase about 1983 or so.
