How Much Ammo Do You Buy At A Time?

Today I bought two boxes of 50 Federal Hydrashocks, and one box of 20 Speer Gold Dots.

I load my own, cast my own lead. I try to keep 2000-4000 on reserve all the time. You never know when there will be a shortage of powder, primers, etc..... especially leading up to and hopefully not after the election in November. I have a bad feeling about that....

1000 rounds or more every time I go to buy,and thats been a LOT as of late...

5.56
762x39
.45's
.40's
9MM

and the list goes on,figure buy now,you may not be able later on.Thinking about getting into reloading...

Scored at on-line auction

I mostly reload all my ammo but sometimes I just can't pass up a great deal. Scored a case of .380 this weekend (on-line auction) for $170. With shipping will probably come to around $220. Local cost would have been $360.

As little as 20 of special purpose self defense stuff to 1000 for practise ammo. Depending on money and circumstances.

At least 2500 rounds at a time. Takes a while to find the good deals on the net though.

I shoot about once every week or 2, and like to buy 2-4 boxes of each caliber, shoot half and stock half. I still buy more if I have "enough".
I keep different amounts for different guns; 100 rounds of 30-06 is ok, 500-1000 for each shotgun, 1000-5000 for 22lr, and I'm still trying to get back up to 1000 rounds of .357mag, but I keep shooting it up. It's too fun.

For rifle, depending on the deal, anywhere from 840 to 1200. If I ever get the cash I would love to get about 5K in 5.56 and 5K in 7.62x39.

For handgun, usually I get a box of 9 and a box of .45 everytime to go to wally world untill the ammo can isnt hungry anymore.

Special ammo such as SD or hunting rounds, usually about 2-3 boxes.

Now I will jump on the deal, I got a case of 9mm for $119 about a year ago.

The only ammo I buy now is 7.62x39 and 22 LR. I reload my handgun ammo, 40 S&W and 357 mag. I usually buy a case of 7.62x39 and at least 1000 rounds of 22 LR at any one time.

Usually ~200 handgun rounds at a time and then I shoot them all that day/weekend. I only have one centerfire rifle right now and I just buy a box or two at a time and I don't shoot it that often. I just ordered almost 600rds of 30-06 though and I would like to get another 500-1000 by the end of the year. I usually buy a brick at a time for rimfire rounds (which is what I shoot most).

Just bought:
3600 .223
700 .45
135 .50BMG

Working on a deal for 3-5K of 7.63x39

And the guy still has a boat load that he hasnt even dug out yet ;)
Lucky for me I have first right of refusal on all of it

Usually 50-100 bucks whenever I feel the urge. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Depends on what I'm lacking.

Most I ever bought at once was a bunch. I don't remember exact round count, but my friend and I cleaned out a dealer at a show of all his 7.62x39 and 7.62x54r This was about 10 years ago and IIRC it cost us about 2 grand.

Ahh, to be single and kid free and money in the bank...

I'll give you all a good reason to stock up a bit:

Last month, my wife walked out. Said we're done. She took the paid off car and her new very nice paycheck. I got the house and the bills, minus her income. It's civil between us, but money is now REALLY tight. The one thing I've not slowed down on?

Shooting. I have enough that I'm not worried about running out in the next six months while I get financially back on track.

A lot. When I buy ammo, I normally get a case of 9mm valuepacks (1000/case), two cases of .45 valuepacks (500/case), a buncha 12 gauge slugs (normally all five boxes on the shelf), and a buncha .22, even if I have plenty. All at walmart, where I can also get a case of motor oil, do grocery shopping, and buy more socks.

Havent got an ammo in a while, gonna have to go again soon.
