I was looking on ammunitiontogo.com and shipping seems to be pretty expenseive, how much ammo do you buy at once?

Depends on where. If it's off the internet, it's usually a case unless I'm testing a load. If it's at a local store, usually a box or two maybe more.

Check out ammoman.com, shipping is free.

dont buy from them. ususaly go to gun shows. as for how much i buy, it depends on several factors.

1)what do i need to restock
2)how much money do i have to spend on ammo
3)how many trips to the car and back am i willing to make
4)can i even carry it to the car

and of course, there is the variable of "screaming (near stealin') deal" that you just HAVE to stock up on.

With rifles, it's mostly thousand round cases or more. Except odd calibers like 444 marlin.

With pistol calibers, I mostly load my own.

I buy mine from the shot show. One guy I know recasts his bullets from old wheel weights with a little other stuff added. They work great in all my weapons so I use them quite frequently. Did I mention he makes 100 .45s for $7.99. I buy it by the can.

Reloading and so it's a pound of powder here and there, box of bullets, case of primers . . .

The ammo rack is 6' X 6' commecial shelving, full of loaded ammo and components.

Mil-surp by the case . . .

Shipping has gone way up for everything.
I found some .308 for 35 cents a round. $203 for a can of 580.
Shipping is $54. 44 pounds a can.
Comes out to 44 cents a round after shipping.

There is some Lith local for $110 a BP. I'll prolly just get that.

generally speaking, what I'm going to need for the next range/ hunting trip.

now if I find something at a great deal( I mean really good), then I may a box or two more. Then again I may buy 10k rounds more( and have in the past)

When I have money, 500-1000 rnds a go.

When I don't have much money, a box or two over the counter.

The important thing is to stay in the habit of adding to the pile on a regular basis. And when I'm buying 'small', I'll take a chance and try a different brand or loading to try out---or buy a box for one of my seldom used guns (ie. my .32 ACP).

With 22LR, I usually buy a brick at a time of each brand selected. Everything else is totally price dependant.

I just checked out those links you guys posted, and Im confused as to why anyone would buy from them?

My local prices are cheaper, even if Im buying boxes of 100 and not cases.

well.... last year i bought 12 dozen arrows.

srsly, I usually buy as much as I can afford when I find a good deal. Currently I think I only have about 500 rounds for any purpose. I'm considering investing in reloading equipment, at that point i'd like to have 1000 rnds on hand at any time with the reloading capability for about 10000 rounds...... this is of course a pipe dream at the moment.
