You need an option for "As much as my budget will allow". I'd spend way more if I could still make ends meet.
Even so, I'm afraid to add it up!

"If shooting-related expenditures were tax deductible, would anyone here actually be legally required to pay any income taxes?" :p

... yeah, this whole thing is way too expensive for me...

How much do I spend

Truthfully, not enough.

Although that will be changing soon, cash flow is significantly improving.

Before I had to choose between, now I soon will have whatever I want.

I'm not greedy, really, I will share info with anyone who asks me how.

Well, the way I see it, it is cheaper and safer than riding a motorcycle. I have seen a guy on a motorcycle get wiped out right near me. Poor guy. It was a nice bike too.
Cheaper than getting a luxury car which I wouldn't want anyway even if I was rich.
Cheaper and a bit more reputable than what the former Gov. of New York was doing.
It has to be cheaper than golf. Besides, golf is just a little too effete for my tastes.
So relatively speaking, it is a safe and cheap hobby.

I hate guns!

Just kidding. Depends on how much my budget will allow. Last year....it was several thousand dollars. Exactly how much? I don't really want to calculate it out :uhoh:

Just enough to be called a "gun nut".

Honestly, I will have to invoke the answers of others.........
I don't even want to know.

Man up :)

Y'all HAVE to add it up. I figure $4K/yr. 75% is ammo, rest is range membership (indoor and outdoor), IDPA/NRA dues and misc. expenses.

When I did my taxes this year I added it all up. I definately spent more than I should have. Firearms are my addiction. My friends ask where I get the money. I don't drink or smoke so I have them add up those costs. I still spend less than they do. They burn their money and I leave it in the side of a hill.

i ormally buy at least one gun a year, shoot about 10,000rds and attend a training course or two. so i am between the $1000-$5000 i would say probally about $2500 is more realistic.

Last year was a watershed year. I probably spent $2500 on weapons and accessories and close to $2000 on ammo. It's still early, but this year is looking pretty good too!

$$$$

Added more than 20 guns to my collection last year alone....oh yea, I also started reloading last year to save money on ammunition...HA HA HA.....you reloaders will understand that one.

Okay, let's see. I bought a used Rohrbaugh and a used RRA Tactical Entry. (Entry Tactical? I can't ever remember.) Both were about like new and ran me $1700 or so. Plus ammo for the AR - I bought 3k rounds of Georgia Arms plus a wide assortment of odds and ends to try out. Heavy, light, hunting, etc. Never did buy an optic for it or that would have been what, $400+ more.

That's enough, I don't want to know anymore.

Really though, I didn't buy too much last year because my parents had to move to assisted living/nursing and my dad gave me all of his guns and ammo. Dang, who would have ever thought that the ammo would be almost more valuable than the guns. See, buying in bulk runs in the family.

To gig a gap between 1000 - 5000
would be better to put 1000 - 2500 & 2500 - 5000
or something like that.

I try to keep it at under 20% of my income. Everybody has their thing; buying guns and shooting bullets out of them is mine.

i figured this up the other day and i spent about $8000 last year on guns alone i have no idea how much i spent on ammo
