Just curious. How much does 1000 pieces of .223/5.56 once fired casings weigh? Also what does 1000 pieces of .308 7.62x51 weigh? I know that it varies between makers, but could you guys help me with an approximate?

depends on the manufacture:banghead:......... Yes!!! I am splitting hairs:D

I have a bunch of IVI 68 that throws lead all over the paper... weight the cases I had a spread in weight from 190 grain to 198 grain, so 1000 cases could weigh 27.142 lbs to 28.285 lbs

My batch of LC 72 Match weights an average of 185 grains or 26.428 per 1000

According to FM 4-30.13 figure D-1, 5.56mm cases weigh 0.0135 pound each, and 7.62mm cases are 0.026 pound each.

So that's 13.5 pounds and 26 pounds, for 1,000 cases.

Edit: Oh, whoops, someone already linked to that FM!
