Romak3 shoots the 7.62X54R
Its supposed to be a sniper AK with 10 round mags...
I here good and bad reviews like most..
Considering the price of ammo, tweaking a gun that that shoots this hi power round, it ain't all that bad...

only the old men can't handle the metric system ;) i'm 30 and i know the metric system better than whatever the hell you call our version of the english system.

I don't think you can shoot 51R ammo in a 30 30 (American).
The 51R is high grain (147)
If you can, you could save a bunch of money on ammo, but I am sure it is a military round, and will only work in a few military issue rifles..
The "r" stands for Russian

Its because the Metric system sucks.

I mean its Base 10. Wheres the fun in that?

Another things is that a Meter=3.28083989501312 Feet. Three feet, hell, I already got the yard, and its an even three feet. What the hell do I need with a Meter?

Who cares if the International Bureau of Weights and Measures defines it as the distance travelled by light in absolute vacuum in 1/299,792,458 of a second. Make it 1/300k of a second and it will start making some sense!

Besides, anyone ever brag to you how many Km/hour they can do in the Quarter Mile?

it's simply because it's a piss poor excuse for an defense caliber compared to .45acp+P, 10mm,.41mag.
Ya, I carry a 30-30 BFR for main carry, a 1911 as a bug....

The metric system is much more precise for measuring small objects. Beyond that I don't have much use for it.

If you ask me, 10 MM SOUNDS (95% of ever car bolt) and SHOOTS, SOUNDS, and HITS so much nicer than 9mm. Yeah, I love metrics, just the right number!

Yeah, there's still a lot of resistance here in the USA to the metric measurements. But it's slowly dying off along with the dinosaurs who refuse to adapt to it. The whole rest of the world has been metric for a long time. We will be too, someday.

As for dissing the 9mm, not me. I have 3 and use two regularly for SD. I think it's a very useful caliber.

It's too bad the OP hasn't seen fit to answer what I said back in Post #49.

Sorry, I didn't know you were expecting an answer.

Sir, I think this thread shows more of a bias on your part about Americans and what you think of us than how Americans feel about calibers named with a metric number.

As far being bias one way or another I couldn't care less what it's called as long as it does the job but I do know people who are hung up on labels and it does seem to effect their thinking about things and sometimes they are not even aware of it. I am not trying to say "all" Americans have a problem with metric labels but I do know some that do. Things like this can color thinking. And what do you mean "think of us" who's us? I was born and raised in Louisville Kentucky, my mother was born in Louisville as well, my father was born in Paris...... Paris Tennessee :p So.. as far as "us" I like to think I am part of "us" if I'm wrong please let me know.

God. Im glad your kidding cause this old man knows his metrics and loves his 9mm:p:D:neener:

I always advocated that the United States would fully adopt the metric system if the rest of the world would adopt the English language.

I use the 9X19 cartridge, but in the olden' days things have to be put into perspective. In the American Old West, the .45lc was the magnum of the black-powder days. As we all know it was legendary, it's ballistics were virtually duplicated in the .45acp. It was and is a man-stopper, used to fight with, not to plug a Jew behind the ear with. This may be where it and it's name attracts animosity among many Americans.

i can not think of a single country in the entire world where you dont get along just fine using english.
heck, if i go to the romand part of switzerland, where the offical language is French, i talk english, it just works better..

I don't much care how calibers are referred to, but I read that the .357 Sig, which is a 9mm round, is called that because they thought it would sell better in the US with that name than coming up with another 9mm name to give it. Whoever thought of that was probably right, too.
I Had a .357 Sig for awhile, and it was a sweet little gun.

I hate English units, but I hate to say 9mmx19mm either because it's too long! I just called it "9mm Luger" or "9mm NATO" for short.

Meanwhile, how many people were killed by .36 Navy Colt's?

These threads have gotten ridiculous.
