The judge is alot of fun. Unless ya have to send it back to get warrenty work done:( It's a neat idea but it lacks refinement. I have no first hand knowledge but my friend had one and it only ran 15 shells before it started to misfire
"light strike" But hey Taurus has a lifetime warrenty if ya dont mind sending the gun in to get repaired.

TennJed, it's obvious if you ask a question on this forum you will get a wide range of answers and we probably won't make up your mind for you. There is a lot of prejudice by name, model, and caliber. My bottom line answer is go with your heart, keep the box, try it, and if you don't like it sell it. If you have to sell it at a loss so be it, that's the cost of learning for yourself..........you can't have mine.

Don't understand the OPINIONS that seem to come out of the woodwork when it comes to a question about the Judge. Most of those opinions I suspect are from people who have never actually shot or handled a Judge but are only defending their preference for a 1911 or 44mag or what ever their favorite bang stick might be. I guess that when you look at the excitement that Americans seem to get out of simple fireworks, its not too much to see why they might get a little fun from shooting a Judge and blowing up pumkins or water filled milk jugs. I've posted several times that if you don't like them, DON'T BUY ONE!! Otherwise give it a rest when it comes to throwing water on some elses fun. I have absolutely zero regard for the S&W 500 or any of the other giant caliber hand cannons; but I don't bad mouth those who get a kick out of owning or shooting them. I say, what ever floats your boat!!

As far as the Judge goes, I own a SS Public Defender and find it both fun to shoot and reliable. It has its purpose and was not designed or ever intended to be the Be All of handguns. Yes the ammo is on the expensive side and 45LC are particuliarly outrageous [just paid $60 for a box of 50]. I don't plan on heading to the range or back yard and blasting hundreds of rounds, just enough to be accurate with it for the purpose that I own it.

Are they fun to shoot? I say yes.
Are they accurate? I say yes up to 15 yards at least?
Are they the best handgun every invented? No.
Are they the most versital handgun ever manufactured? No.

Do I regret investing $450 in a Judge? Absolutely not.
Would I do it again? In a heart beat.

If you can buy one in good shape for under $400 I would jump on it.

Now that is just my opinion, but I actually own one and have shot about 200 rounds over the last year. It is currently resting in the console of my wife's Silverado and will accompany her on her 250 mile trip home in a few days.

I don't know about the Judge

But I do have the Governor. I get max of around 7 inches at 15 yards with Federal 0000 buck.

At 7 yards it is just a 1.5 inch hole. I have no problems hitting a 12 inch gone at 100 yards with 45 ACP.

I Have tried a Judge and I have had dismal results with everything we shot in it.

Probably not my last word on the "Judge" but I will state that I love it when a company thinks out of the box. Taurus did with the " Judge" and Kel-tec did with the PMR-30. Who could imagine a revolver with 5 rounds of 410 or an automatic the size of a 1911 that shoots 22 mag and has a clip capacity of 30 rounds. I have both and enjoy both of them.

Me too

I also have the PMR 30. It is another gun that people think is useless and a fad.

Actually, there was a company making the Thunder Five .410 revolver back in the 90's. Taurus didn't think out of the box on this one.

I bought the Stainless 3 in mag. I had it about a month, and sold it for what I had in it. Just wasnt my cup of tea.
