How much have you fired through a single rifle?

Yeah i cleaned the bore at each session but not hardcore. I just ran a patch on a rod thorugh it till it came clean. Every 2500 rounds id run a brush in and out to clear the lead or if i had any feed issues with leadbuildup at the chamber throat.

For me personally, the handgun ammo count is way higher that the rifle count for one main reason.

I can burn up a 50 round box of .45 from a handgun in about an hour or less. To fire 40 rounds (2 boxes) through my Ruger M77/MkII 7mm RemMag takes me about 2 hours.

I reload .45's and .40's for range fodder and I reload my 7mm and 30-06 for accuracy, so the shooting style fits.

That's what I figured when I saw your comment about accuracy degrading.

I have yet to hear of anyone actually shooting a rimfire barrel enough to cause any significant wear.

I quit cleaning my rimfire bores years ago and some time before that, I stopped using any kind of bore brush on my rimfires. I have yet to note any problems. Not cleaning at all may be a bit more than some folks can tolerate, but you could definitely start cleaning the bore only every 1K or 2K rounds or so. If you go easier on the bore cleaning, you'll never wear out another rimfire barrel.
