How much have you shot your Kel-tec ?

I was at a outdoors shop today asking about a p-32.
The guy there said take it from a gunsmith
it is total junk a Jennings or Davis would be better.
I said people on the forums seem to love them.
He says they are a 100 round a year shooters.
I don"t take much stock in what he says
because he seems to be basing his opinion
on only one gun that he had sold.
He has to order any gun none are in stock
it is mostly an archery shop.
How many rounds have you guys put through yours?

Great guns for what they are. I've a P32 that has about 150 rounds. Nice for when you can't carry anything bigger.

My P-32 went back to the factory twice within the first 50 rounds. Since then I've run 750 rounds thru it with no problem other than 2 light strikes from the same box of ammo (I believe they were actually bad primers).

The original problem I had was that the slide stop spring came off. This problem was corrected at about Serial number 90,000.

After 500 rounds of good-running, I gave it the thumbs-up for carry.

I've got 500 thru one, about 200 thru another. Some have shots several thousand. I think that guy should stick to bows & arrows, he clearly doesn't know much about pistols.

Gun Dealers

I won't say all gun dealers are the same, but the two that I deal with here are similar. If it's not a Browning/Remington/Armalite rifle or a Glock/SIG/Springfield handgun, then it's "junk" in their view.

I no longer deal with one of them after they tried to push a $900 BAR on my wife when she was looking for a $350 AK clone for my Christmas gift; the whole group of them laughing at her and telling her they are junk.

Well yeah, they ARE cheap and cruddy looking, but she knew what I wanted and she's good at giving me what I want.

There are your two big clues. Non-stocking dealers don't get the breaks from distributors plus "special orders" disrupt their normal business methods. For what it's worth, buying guns from archery shops doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

My P-11 and P-32 get fed regularly for fun and practice, and they perform exactly like the high quality, brilliantly designed firearms they are -- 100%.

I remember LMAO in a small town in GA in 1967. My flight school buddy and I were looking at the AMC whatever-model-it-was brought out to compete with the Mustang. The salesman referred to it as one of the "Pony Cars." "You mean, like a Mustang?" asked I. "Yes." "So why not just get a Mustang?" "Because these are what we sell," he replied.

I learned a lot about business that day in Georgia....

Mine has about 350 rounds through it. I had 4 "failures to eject" within 150 rounds of Magtech ammo (the first 150rnds through the gun btw). I've had no failures at all with the last 200rnds of RWS.

...well the other day I was asked this very same question.

Gunsmith does my reloading...we figure somewhere around 6K through my P-11.

More than once I've run 500 rds in one range session. I did count rds when new because I wanted to assure myself of carry loads...don't know why...all rounds have always went BANG and ejected...no problems--ever. Its my 'niche' gun.

...or anyone whom sells to the public. Reminds me of a story:

Guy walks into a auto parts store and asks how much for a carb kit for his truck, parts guy say's $17.00.

"$17.00 for a carb kit" , exclaims the truck owner-"The parts guy down the street has them for $12.00".

Parts guy: "buy it from him".
Truck owner: "he's out of stock".
Parts guy: " yeah -when I'm out of stock--mine sell for $12.00 also.

Dunno..., my gunsmith has sold a bunch of P-11's...

Just checked my .32acp stash....and I only have 3 boxes left of a case of 1000 rounds. All but 2 boxes have gone through my P32.
Do the math.

I haven't had a problem yet.

My P32 went back to the factory after about 150rds. I had FTE problems from the start. After I got it back I have put about 350 additional rounds through it with the only problems being with cheap "American Ammo" (total garbage) and latly the slide stop has not been engaging on the last shot.

I still carry it everyday because it works great with decent ammo and the slide stop not working is not a big deal as I don't carry an extra mag anyway.

I have owned junk guns like the Jennings and Taurus pocket guns and I don't think the Kel-Tecs are nearly as bad as them.

Bottom line is, I trust it enough to carry and I would buy another Kel-Tec if the price were right. They are MUCH better than the guy led you to believe. They are not perfect but Kel-Tec has a great repair policy (free forever, can't beat that).

I want the P3AT as soon as I can get my grubby little mits on one.

My P32 has about 600 rounds through it so far. Other than not taking well to Fiocchi hollowpoints (several FTE's), no problems so far. Put 150 rounds of Magtech HP's through today without a hitch.

LOL. P-32 a "100 round a year" shooter? I put 100 rounds through mine the first week I owned it. Probably 500 rounds so far. It doesn't like CCI Blazer ammo very much, but does fine with Magtech and RWS. Its more fun to plink with that I had thought it would be.

About 500 rounds so far thru my P-11. No problems with feeding, ejecting, and accuracy is better than expected. I was blessed with a good one since others have reported occasional problems.
The factory seems to resolve these problems.

Recoil is acceptable. Trigger is as described by most, long and slightly heavy but not unmanageable. This gun is not a 500 round per day gun at the range, more like a 100 - 150 at most.

In the $200 - 250 range new with a lifetime warranty, it can't be touched and I wish I had bought two.

When I gave my P-11 to a friend who couldn't afford a self-defense pistol, I had over 1500 rounds through it. I never had a failure due to ammunition or the pistol.

It had quite a bit of wear on the slide from being shoved in my waistband or my coat pocket, but other than that I could see no signs of wear on any external or internal parts.

Besides the LONG and HEAVY trigger pull (which I eventually got used to), I was very pleased with that little shooter . . . still wish I had it but I chose to "take one for the team."

I have only put 100 rds through my P-32 but the gun ate through the cheap Remmington UMC stuff without a hitch -- nothing but a little bit of lube -- otherwise right out of the box.

These guns are tough. They are made of polymer -- so what? So are Glocks, and some Kahrs, some Kimbers, etc.

If it ever wears out, guess what? Send it back -- there is a lifetime warranty.

Don't miss out on a great gun from a great company because of one man's uneducated opinion.

My P-32 is a week old, and I've only put about 100 rounds through it. Only 100, because my MagTech cartridges kept hanging up in the magazine, and the gun couldn't strip off the top round. Since then, I've tried CorBons and CCI Blazers, without a hitch- and I hit what I'm aiming at. Isn't that what a gun's supposed to do? Yup.

I have own a P32 and have owned two others that I've given as gifts. Guess I've just been lucky or using decent ammo. I've put a total of around 600 rounds through all of them, at least 100 each. FMJ, SilverTips and GoldDots have all been absolutely 100%.

The early ones had some problems but as far as I know, those have all been addressed. Keep in mind, I doubt most folks are ever going to put 10,000 rounds through a P32. You buy it, shoot a couple hundred rounds of FMJ through it, make sure it's nice and broken in. Try the rounds you want to use for carry use and put at least 100 through at the very absolute minimum, then put another box or so of your carry ammo through every month or thereabouts.

Anyone that would say out loud that a Jennings is better than a current KelTec is a couple chips short of a full bag. He's also the kind of guy that would probably tell you that all cars come with power windows, they just give you the switch if you pay for it. Or all VWs have turbos on the inside of the motors, they just turn them on if you pay for the turbo. I've heard both of these statements at car dealerships.

My P32 had some QC issues early on, but KelTec has some of the best customer service in the industry.
I would have to count my left over cheap FN ammo, but I'm guessing that I have 600-700 rounds through mine.

I plink with my P32 more than I do my Ruger .22.
It is an accurate gun, fun to shoot, and you would be hard pressed to wear it out.
If you do, KelTec rebuilds it free of charge.

I chose KelTec (several times) over Jennings, Bryco, Davis, etc.

Bought my P32 last Wed and put almost 200 rounds through it on Friday.

Only 3 failures to eject, all on the 2nd to the last round in the magazine.

Once I got used to the sights, I was putting all the shots in the 9 and 10 rings at 7 yards. Had at least one 3 inch group at that range.

Nice little gun. Once I have it worked in a little better, and a few more magazines I don't think I'll have any problem trusting it for carry.

Both of our P32s are several years old.
Both had light strike problems early on.
Both were repaired by the factory.

I think my dealer sells 3-4 P11s per month, probably a similar number of P32s.

Currently, the P32 is the lightest .32 caliber on the market.
Recoil is less than a Guardian 32 (~$400) and trigger is better than the Guardian or the Beretta Tomcat (~$350).
It is smaller, lighter, and, in my opinion, more fun to shoot than either of those guns.
Oh, and I almost forgot:
At 15yds, you can keep a Coke can hopping all day long.

200 rds of WWB 9mm through my p-11 so far.

No problems, other than the fact that I can't hit the broadside of a Michael Moore-sized target with it.

And I'm pretty sure that's me, not the gun
