Howdy,
New to THR, new to planning to own my own handgun. I am interested in purchasing a glock 26, and looked around briefly on the internet but mainly in brick-and-mortar stores.

How much should a new G26 cost, and how much extra would factory-installed night-sights be?

OnTarget in Severn MD has the base model for $600 + state fees, which seems high.

Any advice appreciated.

Online you should be able to find the 'base' model for around $500
Adjustable sights add $20, Glock Night Sights add $50
Plus if you buy from out of state, you don't pay sales tax, but you do pay a transfer fee.

I'm VERY glad you asked this question, on how much a Glock *should* cost. :)

Given the cheap plastic sights, cheap plastic mags, cheap plastic guide rod, plastic frame etc., and given that my Bersa has a steel mag, steel sights, a steel guide rod, and aluminum frame, for $300 new, I'd say the answer is about $225.00. YMMV. :p

The closest Academy store to me sells them for $480. You can probably save a few bucks on that. Competition from XD and S & W M & P is driving the price down a little. God bless the free market!

$500 - $550 is the current range on new Glocks. Maryland is considered an anti-gun state, so it's not surprising that they run a little higher there.

I suggest moving to Virginia! :)

I think MSRP on the small frame Glocks is 541, that is what I paid before taxes for my 27. You can find them for less online, and 600 before taxes is out of line for a stock G26.

What are these fees you speak of?

If you're LEO, EMT, Fire Dept, or active or retired military with appropriate identification you should call Glock with this question. You won't regret it.

I get my Glocks at Glock Sport Shooting Foundation. They sell G26 standard at $398.20...for members. Not considering shipping and transfer fees.

Great choice and welcome to the dark side!

Grey - Sent you a PM. Other than that, you might want to check Bass Pro at Arundel Mills. I can't remember what models they had at the moment, but they usually carry a few Glocks for around $500-$550 or so. Worth checking out.

When I was looking at Glocks last year a pawn shop in my area had a G27 for 500 dollars plus tax. They said used would be about 435. Of course my next door neighbor came over to show me his new G-23 last week and said he paid 680 dollars for it from a LEO supply place. I think you are being wise to shop around.

IIRC, I paid around $620 after tax & fees for a G26 w/night sights about a year ago. they should range anywhare from $450-550 before tax & DROS.

+1

I got my brand new 27 with 2 mags and 1 additional mag out the door for $450 back in February.

Wow, thanks for the advice! I'm shocked to find friendly helpful people on the internet. I haven't purchased a firearm before; the buying online/shipping things seems confusing. I'm still working on the acryonyms (for a few threads, I kept thinking LEO referred to the astrological sign - why does this guy think being born in August makes him an expert?)

I'm not LEO, EMT, Fire Dept, or active or retired military. Dad is retired navy, brothers are active duty army, uncles in all branches. From the little I've read, it seems like the state would frown upon them buying a guy for me or re-tax the benefit away. I've gone hunting and practice shooting lots of times (borrowing), and I even pay for my ammo/range time now. Seems like the next logical step in being a responsible adult is to own.

And thanks for the tip about Bass Pro - I didn't even think of them because they didn't pop up in the search engine. I'll check there after work. So far, it looks like Chesapeake Guns Inc has the best price

Just bought one new at Doug's Shootin Sports in Salt Lake for $539 with nights. Vanwagonen's in Orem, UT is $529 with night sights, but I didn't want to spend the gas money.

ha, at my LGS, don't even bother. The dude charges about $10 below retail cost. You want night sites? You're gonna pay around $690 for it! HA!

I wouldn't pay $0.01 for Glock

Well then you're a fool. Do you know what kind of return you could get on that Glock reselling it? I'm not that great at math but I'm pretty sure you'd be pulling a HUUUUUUUUGE profit.

pfft...fanboys...I know you're joking and everything, but I bet you've never even shot a glock.
