How much would you sell a box of WWB 9mm Nato for today?

Over the weekend a neighbor asked me if I still reload. "Yes." "Would you reload me about 1000 9mm, I can't find ammo anywhere." "Nope." I said it with a smile. This was something said over the fence in passing, not like we were having a conversation.

My wife asked me about it later, his wife must have said something to her. "I'm not selling reloaded ammo to someone else. Too much liability. I do have some factory ammo that I might consider selling to him." He is a retired city cop (like second in command) and I guess now works for the sheriff's department occasionally. I can't believe that he doesn't know someone at either organization that could hook him up with some ammo. I work in the sheriff's complex for the 911 system and there are people on their outdoor range 3 out of 5 weekdays, so I know they have plenty of ammo.

I could replace the factory ammo with my own reloads, but I'm not sure what would be a fair price to sell it for. I enjoy reloading, but my time isn't free.

Thoughts?

I've had the same asked of me, I gave the same response. I think factory new 9mm is worth about $25 in today's market, but I'm not really in the selling mood. I stocked up on factory ammo when it was cheap, 9mm and otherwise, but I didn't do so just to sell it at a profit.

Sometimes I wonder what people imagine they sound like. A guy at church asked me the same thing last week, "can't find any .300BO, can you go ahead and load me some?" This guy's a highly compensated office manager, new car. . .

I work on people's cars, repair HVAC systems, teach them to shoot, and teach them to reload, because they can't and I'm happy to help. . . but come on man! That's some cheek.

It's for sale on Armslist dude. Pay your stupid tax.

Depends. I'd probably give a couple boxes to some people; might sell a couple to others at $25 per box. But as others have said, I'm not in a selling mood. I'd trade 9mm for .40 S&W.

Either for what I paid for it,,,
Or I would just keep/shoot it up myself.

I will not price gouge a friend,,,
And I would not sell ammo to someone who wasn't a friend.

Aarond

.

This. I sold a couple of boxes to friends who were caught short and only charged what I paid at the time - NOT what it would cost to replace today.

Like someone just said - I'm not in the "selling mood" right now and only did it to get some people out of a jam. Lots of brand-new shooters in this situation. I am hoping nobody else approaches me hat in hand regarding this.
