Anyone know how to find an FFL? I have been trying but I have only been able to find one near my home town and he made me a little nervous. he said "once you send it to me it is my gun" and that if the person I was sending it to didn't meet his criteria to transfer it to (which he was vague about) he "had a new gun". Plus the guy sounded half drunk during the conversation. I am trying to send it to Point Pleasant, WV or somewhere close.

You are not required to send it first to a FFL who then in turn sends it on to the FFL in WV. (unless the WV FFL requires it, but it is not law.) I happen to have just got off the phone with the BATFE about 10 minutes ago and had a long talk about this very subject. All you need to do is ship it.

Regarding your specific question: They do have on their website an address that you can mail to them telling them your whereabouts and they will send that info back to you as to where the nearest FFLs are.

edit:I just realized that you were talking about WV the whole time

Are you needing someone to ship in OR, or receive in WV? On the receiving end, I don't have a number in hand, but call directory assistance for WV (304 area code), ask for the town of Ravenswood, and the shop is Old and New Sports. They do transfers for $20; Ravenswood is about 20 miles North of Point Pleasant. I've used Old and New Sports in the past, and gotten good service. They are open weekdays and Saturday from 9 to 6, and Sunday from 1 to 4.

Found the number - 304-273-5855

Small world

I just got ahold of a place in WV. Fetty's Gun and pawn. The funny part is after talking to the guy I ask "are you related to Nancy Keiser? (my grandmother) Her maiden name was Fetty." He was silent for a second then said "that was my sister". I then said "Did you used to have a pet black bear that lived in your house with you?" Turns out the owner of the shop is my great uncle Jim who I have not seen since I was 8 yrs old. Small world.

"...he said "once you send it to me it is my gun" and that if the person I was sending it to didn't meet his criteria to transfer it to (which he was vague about) he "had a new gun"..." That's called theft. An FFL who will do a transfer is performing a service for a fee. However, an FFL doesn't own the firearm any more than UPS owns what they move around.

Penguin,go to the next show at the Expo Center,April 21-23.Look at all the tables for local dealers, there should be quite a few.Just generally talk and ask about the items they're selling. You'll find at least one that you will feel comfortable with. There are many, many dealers in the Portland area.Besides, that's an awesome gun show anyway. However, you do not need an FFL to ship your guns to an FFL,as stated earlier...
