I was going to build up a model 700, but decided against it in favor of an AR base due to the abundance of parts and choices. I've done some research and came up with this setup.

Stag Arms complete lower with collapsible stock & Ergo sure grips - $244

DPMS flat top upper reciever - $129.95

DPMS 24" bull barrel kit with vented free float handguard - $329.95

Stag arms bolt carrier assembly - $115

Barrel nut, extension, and delta ring assembly - $36.20

For a total of $855.10. Did I miss anything? Any reccomendations for better/cheaper parts? And this will be a target/varmint rifle for me.

I realize you want to build this yourself, but RRA has some uppers for the same price as all the parts (free shipping right now), but they come with a Wilson Arms barrel. I won't say the DPMS is not good, since I haven't shot one, but I can attest to Wilson as a company...and they make the barrel that is on my Cooper, which is somewhat accurate. ;)

Yeah. That's one of the reasons I posted to get tips. The reason I set it up like I did in small sections was so I could buy parts here and there and not be out the big hit all at once. Looks like I can get the Wilson on there for $290 and get a tube and guard for $60, spending $20 more than how I had the DPMS barrel set up. Anybody have experience with both? Thanks.

Eh, nevermind. I finally found a bolt action model like I was looking for, that appeared to not be made. It's the only 300 win mag with a long, heavy barrel I could find and I finally found it tonight.

Due to contracts with (military, LEO, SWAT, whoever it is) I heard they have wait times from hell.

The only RRA I own I bought off of the rack, so I'm just relaying this message from others on here, otherwise I'd agree with Outlaws.

The RRA wait times are really strange . .took 3-4 months to get my DCM upper, but I was able to get my Varmint overnight. FWIW.
