I asked this question in another forum and didn't get a lot of responses, not enough to feel confident anyway. I have an adult length Hogue stock for a Howa 1500 (short action). In came in a two stock .308 youth package, but unless my son gets a lot bigger than I (doubtful) there will be never be a need to change his out to the 1" bigger stock. The "youth" stock is super handy as is even for me at 5'9". I have had great success with both 1500s I've owned and I absolutely love the Hogue overmoded stocks in the field. Legacy Sports' catalog lists 1500 barreled actions. I'd kind of like to get one in .223 Rem or 7-08 for this extra stock I own.
So if I got a barreled action for my spare stock, would it be as simple as dropping a Howa 20" lightweight #1 contour barreled action in and mounting a scope? Or is there more to it?
Thanks!
