How's the trigger on a Ruger P97 DAO?

I've come to the conclusion that I don't shoot traditional DA/SA autos very well. So I'm looking at getting a DAO pistol. Searching around online, I've found a Ruger P97 DAO for a good price.

My question is, how is the trigger on these pistols?

I've shot a DA/SA version, and the DA pull was like 12 pounds. Do the DAO versions have a 12 lb trigger each time, or has the trigger been lightened, like other brands?

Thanks,

-John

I would expect 12+ pounds. I love Ruger P guns, but the DA triggers are very heavy. I had a DAO P94 for a while, the trigger was just too heavy for me to shoot it well. Traded it for a NIB P95DC about 10 years ago and never looked back.

Thanks, Rule303, for the input. I've fired a P97DC and a P95DC, and was hoping that the DAO pull would be closer to other DAO pistols, like the SIG 250. I guess not.

BTW, I like your forum name. That was a great movie!

Yes, the P250 is unique, and while it, and a third-gen Smith would be better choices, for this application I need a single stack and not SAO. This really limits my choices. I was looking at a Kahr TP9/40/45, but those are pushing $700. I can probably get a P97DAO for closer to $350, used. So, I'm looking to pick one up, if the DAO trigger pull is reasonable.

Being a confirmed Glock guy, I was hoping that the new Glock 42 would be a 9mm. The commonality of the trigger with the rest of my pistols would justify the price.

Thanks,

-John
