I've been going through the various models of HK P2000's, and each time I think I understand the various trigger versions, I find myself even more confused.

As I understand it, there's a version 1 with the LEM trigger, but it's not sold in the US. The LEM trigger is a constant pressure DAO trigger that doesn't require a decocker or safety.

Again as I understand it, the Version 2 is like the Version 1, but with a trigger pull of 7.3 pounds. This is the US version.

Version 3 is a conventional DA/SA trigger and hammer, with a decocking button next to the hammer at the rear of the slide.

I thought I had all of the above correct (and I probably don't) until I came across another model that is version 2 but has a SA/DA trigger. Now I'm really confused. Are all of the version 2 triggers LEM? Are all version 2 DAO, or are all P2000's DA/SA?

Can anyone 'splain?

All V2s are LEM trigger. You may have come across a mislabeled gun case, or the gun may have been converted at some point.

If it has a LEM trigger/action system, it is not DA/SA.

Monkey I recommend you head over to hkpro.com and do a search for the different trigger variants/LEM, endless info over there bout anything H&K. Good luck with you dilema

V3 = DA/SA with decock button mounted at rear of slide.

V2 = LEM (around 8 lbs. pull from the factory). No decock button with LEM.

V1 = lightened LEM (You buy two springs from H&K and swap them out. End result is around a 5 lbs pull. I did this to my P2000sk and love the trigger. Careful not to confuse the P2000 V1 with the USP V1 which is a completely different system (DA/SA with a safety lever that also works as a decocker).

There are other variants as well. For example, you can order a P2000 with a regular double action pull which has a high resistance DA pull just like a revolver. Or you can fine-tune the LEM pull to pretty much whatever poundage you want. They might even have a name for these "in between" LEM pulls like V4,5,6 and so on. But H&K pretty much just ships them in V3 and V2. The lighter V1 LEM usually requires that you order the springs and do it yourself or you can choose to send your pistol to H&K and have them do it. I personally saved the money and did it myself since it's quite simple to do.

Something else to keep in mind is that a V3 (DA/SA) can be converted to V2 (LEM), but not the other way around. This is because the V2 frame doesn't have the notch cut out in the back of the frame for the decock button.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the replies. HK's site has all of the trigger variants laid out, and I now understand. The problem I was having was with websites that would show a variation 2 pistol with a 2 at the end of the part number, but then have SA/DA in the description and no mention of a hammer or decocker. The websites were wrong.

It wasn't HK's site that was wrong, it was some of the online gun retailers. Some of the sites (Impact Guns, for example) make it near impossible to tell which model is which.
