HR 86 "Safe Students Act" to Repeal Gun Free Zones Act of 1990

I'm proud to say that my Congressman, Thomas Massie of the 4th District of Kentucky is behind this.

"My Northern Kentucky district office is NOT a gun-free zone. Gun-free zones make people less safe.

That’s why I’ve introduced H.R. 86, the Safe Students Act, which would repeal the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990.

Gun-free school zones are ineffective. They make people less safe by inviting criminals into target-rich, no-risk environments. Gun-free zones prevent law-abiding citizens from protecting themselves, and create vulnerable populations that are targeted by criminals.

A bigger federal government can’t solve this problem. Weapons bans and gun-free zones are unconstitutional. They do not and cannot prevent criminals or the mentally ill from committing acts of violence. But they often prevent victims of such violence from protecting themselves.

Thank you Congressman Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA), Congressman Steven Palazzo (R-MS), Congressman Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Congressman Jim Bridenstine (R-OK), Congressman Jeff Duncan (R-SC), and Rep. Rob Bishop R-UT) for co-sponsoring #HR86.

Rhode Island: According to the Violence Policy Center in MD we have the lowest gun deaths per capita in the country. What they failed to cite is that we have NOT ONE gun free zone.

Gun free zones are killing zones.

Well... things that seem too good to be true, usually are:

"Following the Lopez decision, Congress rewrote the Gun Free School Zones Act of 1990
with the necessary interstate-commerce "hook" used in other Federal Gun Laws. The
revised Federal Gun Free School Zones Act is currently in effect and has been upheld by
several United States Appellate Courts. None of the convictions occurring under the
revised law have been overturned as a result of the Lopez decision."
