Hey guys, I just recently moved to the Knoxville, TN area and, again, I'm interested in getting involved in hunting. My understanding is that deer hunting would probably not rewarding, so I was curious if anyone is from this area and can give me an idea on rabbit/squirrel hunting?

I can't help with specifics, but TN does have a fair amount of public land to hunt on. I don't hunt there, but have family all along the border near NC from Chattanooga to Bristol. Several in the Knoxville area. My mom and dad migrated into North GA, where I was born, but I spend a lot of time visiting the area. I had one uncle and a few cousins that were big hunters back in the day, but they have all passed on. No one in my TN family is a hunter or I'd try to get more info from them.

There are some links to public hunting here

I lived in SE Tenn. a while ago. At that time it was unusual to see a deer much less kill one. One area that held a few deer and hogs was around Tellico Jct. The area is/was hilly and forested and squirrels were the only abundant small game. You might check it out. Bring your fishing pole and flies or corn. They stock the rivers with rainbows.
