Hello All,

I saw a posting on my local gun classifieds for hydroprinting/hydrographics service:

I was curious if anyone out there have done this to their guns and can comment on the longevity of the finish?

The wife likes blue - was thinking of getting which ever pistol she finds most comfotable to get the grips duracoated blue...then again I could get it hydroprinted with something like this ;-)

I've never seen it before but that would be awesome if it's inexpensive/long lasting :)

I'm assuming its the same process as camo dipping guys get for their waterfowl guns. My buddy got his stoeger 2000 dipped a couple of years ago and its holding up great. I know the finish can be sensitive to some specific cleaning solvents.

A friend bought an SKS with a hydroprinted camo pattern on the stock.

He got tired of it and decided to refinish the stock as closely as possible to the original condition.

He had one hell of a time getting that print off of it. I wasn't there at the time so I don't have details but I know that he tried several different abrasive techniques and several different solvents before he finally got it all off.

A friend of mine just bought a kit and we're going to experiment on 4" aluminum tube (blower discharge tube on my old mustang). We'll see how it stands up to heat on a metal surface.

There are quite a few DIY kits out there for hydro printing now.
