When I purchase a handgun I just don’t feel my purchase is totally complete until I find good quality leather for it.

I’m sold on the virtues of a solid holster.

My primary carry gun is a SIG P239 in .357SIG I carry it in a Wild Bills NSA rig complete with IWB spare mag pouch and a Wild Bills double thick belt.

My latest purchase is a new P99c 9mm, I’m holster-less for it, yesterday I was desperate and the only thing I could find was a Fobus paddle…

$15.00 bucks so I bought it.

I’m sorry, to those who like them, I mean no disrespect but man they are cheap and flimsy. :(

I guess I’m just a leather snob, Glaco, Wild Bills, Blue Line Leather, Mitch Rosen.

I've got a Milt Sparks on the way for my 1911 and a HBE for my CZ75. Gotta find a pocket holster for the PM9 now.

Galco? MS? Snobbery?

Think Del Fatti, Alessi, etc.

That said, I carry in Galco, MS, and Del Fatti. There's nothing wrong with Galco or MS, it's just not Del Fatti. Now Fobus, I won't touch that with a stick (but I own one too :uhoh: )

I love the work High Noon does. I've got Down Unders for the P239/357 (I see I'm in good company) and the P228. In colder weather, the 239 gets a Galco concealable, and the 228 goes in a Zip Slide.

OTOH, the Kimber rides in a Wilson Summer-Special clone. Great piece of leather.

I never got the feel for Kydex, and anything in nylon makes me think of the awful Uncle Mike's dealie that a boss of mine had for his Glock 30. I remember him trying to reach something on a high shelf once, and the $%&* thing fell right off. There was a moment of stunned silence for a sec there.

So yeah, I'm a leather snob, too. It's just so darn comfortable.

guess I'm a leather snob too. Never gave much attention to holsters and was happy with those from Hunter and that type. That all changed when I stepped up to a Mitch rosen. Simply no comparison. Every leather piece since -belts, mag holsters, holsters - has been from his shop. I can gaurantee the next one will be too. :) that mass produced stuff just doesn't cut it. Why put that $$$ gun in a $$ holster?

I on the other hand am a holster minimalist. I like light, quick, sturdy and feel. I find that in holsters their are a lot of bargains to be had, but I pretty stick to one small beltslide, one pancake and one IWB. I also have never seen the sense of a $60 IWB holster. A lot of people think that the floppy ones suck because you can't reholster your weapon after firing in self defense, but I got news, you fire in self defense, you ain't reholstering for a few months.

I might have too much leather (is that possible?). Anyhow... I squeak a lot. It's to the point where I am worried that concealed doesn't mean concealed anymore. At least to anyone who is familiar with the sound of leather rubbing on leather. People shouldn't squeak!

I also have never seen the sense of a $60 IWB holster.

Hmm ... I'd love to find some good ones that inexpensive ... all mine go about $85 - $105 ...

But I do have a Fobus ... for my Glock. Yeah, for my 1911s, I'm a leather snob, for sure...

I too like good leather and was fortunate to get from Dick (rWt) over on the Rohrbaugh forum a quite delightful rig made by Horseshoe Leather in UK .. superlative quality, tho this poor flash pic hardly does it justice.

Thing is - this is a rig made for Colt Gov't but - Dick had had it I believe, unused, some 6 years in his basement .. and it is still pretty stiff. One day not too long ago when deciding to use my BHP practical for IDPA I tried it in this rig - it is incredible - it fits well and the cant is nice - I am using this right now for carry for a change, per the picture.

The other fine rig which exemplifies the beauty of leather is the work Kevin Manley (KD Hiolsters) did for me on my SP-101 rig (my normal regular carry) ... a copy in fact in shape at least, of a Jim Burke I bought in Dallas, from the man himself, at a gunshow last year - he has died sadly and so I could not secure a spare. This copy Kevin made is a fine piece of work - beautiful color and the tooling is exquisite. Again sorry - poor flash pic.

I'm also love leather. When I was young and single I went with Galco and loved their holsters. Now, with money tighter, I've found Don Hume holsters to be a decent leather with a very reasonable price, and their from Oklahoma!

I'm yet to get a Rosen, soon, very soon I will rectify that. All of my leather is from either Milt Sparks, Tucker Gunleather, and Rafter S. For those of you working on a tight budget I highly recommend Rafter S. The prices are great and the quality is top notch, right up there with the big boys.

Don Hume holster are good. I see more cops wearing Don Hume than almost anything....of course they are work holsters and Ichiro probably wouldn't use them.

I'm a big fan of High Noon Holsters. The most comfy hip holsters I have are their Sky High models.

Tucker Leather also has some pretty nice products, including a nice leather/kydex hybrid you can tuck a shirt down over. :)

Color me a holster snob too. Have had the cheap stuff and there is a definite difference.

Tucker, Sparks, Rosen, Alessi, and Del Fatti top my list.

Alduro - A lot of people think that the floppy ones suck because you can't reholster your weapon after firing in self defense, but I got news, you fire in self defense, you ain't reholstering for a few months.
For me it isn't the reholster after a self defence shooting, it's the hassle trying to practice a presentation. Taking off the holster to reholster can get to be a drag when you want to do 20 or 30 presentations.

Fobus=junk.

If your only experience with Kydex is Fobus, no wonder you are turned off. Check out a Blade-Tech or Ky-Tac or a CenDex and you'll have a new appreciation.

I carry daily using leather but for competition, Kydex rules.

Galco snobs

Kramer, Milt Sparks, Ken Null, are what I pack in. Alessi and Delfatti are next.

Don Hume holster are good. I see more cops wearing Don Hume than almost anything....of course they are work holsters and Ichiro probably wouldn't use them.

I carry my trusty little P-32 in a Don Hume front pocket holster. Top Quality and it looks great.
