Truth be told every time I feel the desire to be disappointed in a retailer for “price gouging” it’s usually because I wasn’t smart enough to buy all the (____) I needed when it was dirt cheap 2 months ago ....

I generally buy stuff I don’t need just because it’s scarce, and don’t buy the stuff I use all the time in greater bulk when it’s cheap and plentiful simply because it’s cheap and plentiful. I never learn :D

I am dissapointed in........ Palmetto state armory
I am not.

I am disappointed in myself for not having stocked up more on Wolf primers when they were $13/1000 ...

I am disappointed in myself for not having stocked up more on CCI/Winchester primers when they were $20/1000 ...

And after going through several component shortages,

I am glad for having stocked up on S&B primers when they were $20/1000 ...

I am glad for having stocked up on Winchester primers when they were $25/1000 ...

Over the decades, I have bought many things from PSA including ammunition, firearms, uppers and accessories and never been disappointed.

I am disappointed that I didn't buy more when PSA ran some really good sales and Black Friday promotions. :D

It's supply and demand at work and right now, there's more demand than supply.

Simple.

So save your money and stock up when supply improves over demand again.

Nearly every time I miss out on a good deal it’s my own fault.

But interest paid on a credit card can negate the good deal entirely. So I don’t sweat it.

I have enough 5.56 for a long time. Supply and demand sure but to bump up a $120 in a month Not amused.I am sure all this ammo was already in warehouses. Supply and demand not an issue. So why the price jump. I understand on auction sites where people can get out of hand but this I don't know.MHO

Uh, this is PSA. I am surprised it isn't the usual, where half the page is "Temporarily Out Of Stock". Seriously, demand has gone through the roof, due to people buying what they don't need, at the worst time. After years of a glut, and us saying, "How much lower can prices get", we have our answer, and the market is stabilizing (kinda).

much like many retailers will lower their price if you put something in your cart, and walk away, after a few day, in a "you only" sale, I have found PSA does the opposite. I lost 30$ off a sale price from when I put the wrong debit number in, to the time it took me to find the correct card, and reenter. Still an incredible deal, but it was 10%+ free shipping they knocked off. If it was a bigger order, I may have walked. I have noticed a few other times I preplanned orders from them. Still will use them thou, I have pretty good experiences with them overall.

A year ago at this time you couldn't enter the ammo section of Cabela's without tripping over stacked cases of 9mm, 5.56mm and .22 LR at "reasonable" prices (maybe not pre-2012), but still good.

Buy it cheap and stack it deep...

I have been sequestering ammo since age 12, so my existence isn't depending on finding ammo in a shortage.

Maybe its just karma for all the shade people were throwing on dirt cheap ammo back in January and February. Seems like we had a few people posting about $112 per 1000 9mm delivered and $85 per 500 223 and 762x39 delivered. Of course it was all steel Tula so the collective response was a yawn and who wants that stuff. Glad I wasn't too picky and happened to take up a few of all 3

I'm not surprised. I had a bad experience with them and am pretty much done with PSA.

My grandfather once told me “If you never expect anything out of anybody, you’ll never be disappointed.”

At the time (I was a teenager) I thought it was a rather negative way to live life, but the longer I live the more I realize he didn’t expect bad or good form anyone. He realized all people have the potential to make you happy/proud or to make you disappointed, he just waited to see what came. He was a wise man just so gentle and quiet I didn’t realize it much until I got older.

FWIW, price increases don’t bother me much. It’s the markets natural way to prevent hoarding and keep stock available in times of shortages.

Evidently PSA believes that the previous price plus free shipping for that item was unsustainable for whatever reason. The bread and butter money maker items for them, their in house build AR-15 rifles and especially pistols, are all but sold out and have been for over two months. Until they get that production on track again they still have to make payroll and keep the doors open. Shaving free shipping off some items and adding $$ to others may be the only thing that keeps them half azz competitive and in business but that's just my opinion.
As a consumer I can ignore their prices or, as I did last week, buy 5 ETS Glock 31 rd. aftermarket magazines. Buy 5, $74, and you get free shipping. I've bought from PSA quite a few times and have always been happy with the exchange.

Your grandfather was a wise man, but you already know this.

I'm glad I bought my rifle and 3K of ammo from them last summer when prices were cheap with free shipping and NO tax for both. I might as well by local if I have to pay extra for shipping AND tax.

Bill

I would grab the deal and pay the cost if you really want or need the ammo. Because next month, you might be even more sad when there is NO ammo. And all of a sudden you realize that the PA deal was not so bad after all. Fortunately I have been putting away ammo for years as I knew this kind of shortage was most definitely going to happen. 22.cal is next on the list. Seems to be a good amount available, and I am getting orders in each week while I can.
Be Prepared.
