No excuses on .22 ammo

A local gun shop had a Black Friday deal and my sister dragged me off with her to a store opening by dawn's early light. I ended up buying three 325rd boxes federal .22 LR AutoMatch for 14.95 each. I had a moment of weakness.
I would have as well, that is what they should sell for. The BF deal here was 19.99, limited stock, I bought two, gave them to my sons.

I remember not all that long ago one could buy 50 box of Winchester .22 rounds in grey box for $1.99 per box. That was at $ander $ountain no less. I would say anything over $16 per pack of 325 is not a particularly good price.

Perhaps one way to lower asking prices is to stop buying .22lr ammo. I seem to remember at one time when price of gas went real high groups of people decided to use less gas by traveling together or reduce travel unless truly needed. I'm not sure what impact that had but prices of gas went down. Why can't shooters do the same?

I haven't fired my 10/22 since at least 2012. How many more years should I wait before buying ammo?

My comment was directed at chronic .22lr ammo buyers or people who keep buying it every time they spot it on the store shelves.

If I see it and it's priced fairly, I am gonna buy it. I will probably buy all the limits allow, too....Before this panic, I was shooting 500+ rounds a week year round. I would like to get back to that.

That is not a problem, but you will continue to pay premium because they have no incentive to offer it for less.

Roger that! Pretty much where I'm at, I've pretty much stopped shooting .22lr, stretching out what we had on hand before Sandy Hook, basically reserving it for my wife to shoot.
By dumb luck I'd received a 25K round shipment the week before SH, should have lasted 8-12 months, managed to get by so far, but I was happy to find several thousand rounds of "reasonably" priced .22lr in a couple of different places (no limits mentioned and I didn't come close to getting all they had displayed) before the election and have enjoyed shooting it along with my wife!

The limits make it hard to find as I'm not going to drive anywhere in hopes of getting a measly two boxes.

If you haven't used your 10/22 in several years, you either have none, or just an emer. reserve which is not to be used?

Yeah, I have an emergency reserve of around 300 rounds. I haven't seen a brick under $50 since Sandy Hook. It's weird when Mini-Mags are the cheapest and most plentiful rimfire.

I bought a 5000 round case of CCI Blazer in the 50 Rd boxes a week before Sandy Hook for $179 shipped. During the height of the panic, I watched a case of it sell for 1100 dollars on GB....It was very hard resisting the urge to sell mine.
