I expect most of us have a firearm want-list. Guns we tell ourselves we'll buy if we ever find a good deal, or guns that are hard to find, or guns that we've always wanted but just haven't ever gotten around to buying.

The Beretta M9 has been on my list longer than any other weapon. I want one mostly because it's the handgun used by the US military. I collect and shoot old military guns, and I finally got around to buying an AR this year. Seemed like it was high time to buy the Beretta to go with it, if I found one at a good price.

The CZ 75B has been on my list for about a year, ever since I rented one at the local range. I've been wanting the matte stainless version, which I think is a drop-dead gorgeous weapon, but they tend to go at or close to list price, if you can find one at all, and I'm too cheap to do that.

Naturally, it came to pass that I found a dealer selling the M9 for as low a price as I've seen in quite some time at the same time as I found another dealer selling a matte stainless CZ 75B at the lowest price I've ever seen. What to do? Buy the Beretta I've long desired, or the hard to find CZ? Which one should it be?

I couldn't decide, so I bought both.

I am in so much trouble...

This was going to be my answer to your question.

I am in so much trouble...

And this is the expectation. Now, here is how you balance it out with the missus:

Buy her three purses, a dozen roses, and have a nice date night ;)

Yes, you will take a little hit, but she will be happy

Roll some orange cardboard in the barrel and tell her they are cheap airguns for practice***

***I do not actually endorse lying to your wife

It'll be worth any grief you're given when you take them to the range.

"OMG Honey, the weirdest thing happened to me today! So there I was, walking out of the gun store after having bought the ONE, and only ONE pistol we had previously agreed that I should buy, when all of a sudden a nice old man started talking to me in the parking lot. He said that his poor little grandson was suffering from a bad case of.... the plague... yeah that's it, the plague, anyway, he really needed $500 to pay for some anti-plague shots for the kid. Well, you know how I feel about children with the plague, so of course I gave him the $500, and wouldn't you know it, he was sooo thankful, he just GAVE me this pistol! Weird huh?! Anyway, so let's talk about your day, how'd it go?"

 That story is bullet proof!

Hello friends and neighbors // Congrats on having the $10 winning ticket for one of them.

I have the CZ 75B and would like to hear how it compares with the Beretta M9.

I wish CZ made a 40sw carbine, or another co. made one that would take the 75b mag.

:)You could get divorced. ;) See this is why I'm single. No one tells me what guns I can and can't buy.

Of course there are other things in my life that are deficient as a result.......:(

Enjoy the new guns. Tell her one is for her!

Take her shopping! Make sure you don't wince at the price tags on what she picks up.
(My wife can tell when i do that, and puts it back with some resentment.)
A famous redneck once said : "If she ain't happy, no one's happy."
God's honest truth.

My significant other takes a "don't ask don't tell" approach to my collection.

Things tend to....accumulate :)

You did the right thing. Your life span is most likely increased from purchasing both pistols because you will have avoided the stress and sleepless night associated with second guessing your decision should you have chosen only one.

Just step away from the 'looking' for awhile, and let things catch up to themselves. Enjoy your new guns. Looking, searching, it's always VERY dangerous.

Scotty..that was really good!!:D:D

Anyway, good choice in firearms. I had to sell my CZ75B a year ago - mom needed some money. I loved that gun. I saw a brand new CZ75B, the one that I had, last week at a LGS for $499. I wanted it so bad..but I had to wait. I also have the Beretta clone - ATI C92. It shoots and handles just like the "real thing".

Enjoy your purchases! Congratulations!

So what did wifey have to say with your "impulsive" buy?:D

Maybe the OP posted he's in trouble because the wife may not know yet ...

BTW, nice guns ... you did good.

If wife questions, I would tell her, "But he bought two GOOD guns ..." :D

for some reason it is easier to justify spending money with spending more money :D if she complains when she checks the acount tell her it would be half that bad if you didnt take her out

That story is bullet proof!

If I gave that story I would need to be bullet proof. Hello Kevlar.

Happily for me, I am blessed with a very tolerant wife. So I'm not really in trouble.

I think.

The follow-up...

I was putting gas in her car this evening while she went into the store to get something to drink. She came out with two somethings to drink.

"I couldn't decide which one I wanted so I bought both," she says.

Jackpot!

"I know the feeling," I say.

There must have been something to how I said it, because she gives me this look. You know the one I mean. The one that says, "I know you're about to admit to something, but I don't know what."

"What do you mean?"

"Well...you know how I've been wanting an M9?"

"Yes?"

"And you know how I've been wanting a CZ 75, you know, the one you shot really well with at the range the last time we went?"

"Yes?"

"Well... I found a really good deal on the M9... at the same time as I found a really good deal on the CZ 75... and I thought about it for a week... and I couldn't decide which one I wanted... so I bought both."

Pause. Wait for it.

She sighs. "Well, at least you thought about it first."

"You're not mad?"

"No, I'm not mad. Let's go get dinner."

I love my wife. :D:D:D
