I became a NRA Lifetime member today, I think you should too.

The election results don't automatically mean that the "death to gun owners" gang will get their way, but it does mean that the fight to retain our rights will get a lot harder. If the Democrats capture the White House in 2008, we can certainly look forward to more gun bans, and more restrictions, perhaps even confiscations, something the antis have tried to avoid so far.

A lot of gun people don't like the NRA, but from a political viewpoint, it is the only game in town. The other gun groups are small and don't have the money or the numbers to impress or influence anyone. Further, the NRA, as a membership organization, can cite real figures for support, not wild number tossing like one gun control group that claims "millions of members", but which has no provision for any membership, only for donations to the cause.

No one claims or believes that the NRA alone can elect candidates. But its membership is enough to swing close elections and make a difference, and even the most confident of the gun grabbers knows it.

We will also have to be more aware of phony "sportsmen's" groups, like AHSA, who claim to want to protect the Second Amendment, but in truth want to ban all but a few hunting shotguns whose owners pass a politically correct test. This is part of the old Democratic blather that "Kerry/Clinton/whoever is a sportsman and doesn't want to ban sporting guns." Non-sporting guns to be banned would be all semi-auto rifles and shotguns, all pump shotguns, all handguns, all "military type" guns (bolt action rifles are "military type" guns), and so on.

Hey, I didn't know they had a payment option on the life membership. I'm signing up right now. Thanks for the info!

PS, for anyone who cares, I just got out of the hospital from reciving my new liver. I got 3/4 of a liver w/the bile ducts i needed, and thew other 1/4 saved a baby who was having problems geting their own going. Become a donnor if you can, you never know who you can save after your gone. Thank you. I've been a donnor since age 16, and when I first signed up to be one, I had no idea I would become a recipiant. I'm 32 now, and because of someones generosity, I will live to see my twin girls grow up.

Congratulations on the liver, my father had a liver transplant. Looked like he was hit by a mercedes semi on the belly?

Congratulations TG. Now you'll be able to support RKBA even longer.;)

I think that everyone should be working to get people that weren't formerly supporting RKBA issues to particpate and support the RKBA organisations. The larger the memberships in NRA, GOA, JFPO become the more all politicians see that the public does not support gun grabbing philosophy the fewer politicians will support gun grabbing.

I paid up the last half of my EZ-pay this year. No other orginization is treated with as much fear and loathing (I don't thing they know the word respect) by the antis as the NRA. The GOA may be no-comprimise, but they're not quoted nearly as often.

Ala Dan, glad your an NRA life member.

Nothing person, but Darren McFadden is going to run all over the Vols come Saturday.

Woo, Pigs, Sooiee.....etc.

Changed earlier this year...

Springmom and I were annual members until August, when we signed up for the EZ-pay life memberships for both of us.

Now more important than ever. Antis and grabbers can mock "cold, dead hands" all they want, but dues-paying members equate to attention-paying voters, and THAT gets politicians' (especially House members') attention in a way that nothing else ever will.

No Disrespect, but-

Hey hillbilly My Friend-

We almost pulled it out against L.S.U., don't you think we might have
something left for Mc FaTT'en :neener: ?

In keeping this firearms related, just got word that a friend might be
on the brink of trading in a few firearms? He is suppose to get with
me within the next few days too see what they're worth. Stay tuned
folks for the latest news here on The High Road~!;) :D

Ala Dan.....if your boys can manage to stay out of jail, you might have a chance........however....:neener:

At least this election will make LaPierre's weekly scare letter seem more plausible.

And I, too, am now in it for life.

THANK YOU for that link. I could never afford the whole $750 at a whack, and I didn't know of the payment plan. I have just submitted my Life Membership application on that plan. No more one year plans for me!

Edit: in fact, I think this link is so good, I changed my sig line to include it!

Honestly, I never really thought about the NRA, and I don't have the $$ right now. But after this election, I too am starting to seriously consider it, if only for the reason of contributing $$ to people who are willing to fight for my rights.

Repulblican desertion.

Bush led the Republicans in a desertion of conservative ideals. Better get ready to put your money where your heart is.

I went on the quarterly plan in '95, then 2 payments into it they offered me Life for $500. I called them and said I'd already sent $50 so they said just send $450, which I did. I've upgraded twice since! :D

Greetings Iggy My Friend-

'Way back yonder in '75 funds were tight, and I lived in a one room
apartment. Life membership in the N.R.A. was only $125; but I could
not muster up the funds for the life of me. Everytime, I got a little
ahead there was always some type of emergency come up. After
I changed jobs, I created what I called a "SLUSH FUND" for not
only firearms; but other things firearms related.

Fist thing I know, the "SLUSH FUND" really took out legally. Today,
that same fund is being re-created too aid my two year old grand
daughter with her college education fund. [Of course, all my guns
and gear] probably will be sold at auction, when I'm dead and gone?
On the second thought, my daughter is an avid shooter; so she just
might hold on to some of them~!;) :D

I would like to do this as a gift to my stepdad. How could I go about this. Would I just fill out his name with my cc information?

Also, what do all of the rankings mean: life, endowment, patron, benefactor?

Thanks for the info.
