i was looking for a new handgun that i could take with me as a sidearm while hunting and i found this new taurus at a great price. this is not my hunting gun, but i do want to carry it while hunting and camping. how many of you carry a handgun while hunting?

I used to carry a pistol when I was hog hunting in southern Ga. But hunting deer here in Ky never did.
I would give that pistol a good testing with ball and HP That brand seems like very hit and miss. I have a 9mm that will shoot every thing Other 2 pistols I bought were bad one back 2 times to fix..
Enjoy it and I hope it is as trouble free as my PT-92 is.

How's the trigger?

the trigger is great, in double action it's like any DAO revolver, but when you're in single action the trigger is very very sweet, with very little travel the slide is smooth and point very natural.

I often carry a handgun in the woods -- usually a Colt Woodsman. But I really never saw the need to carry a handgun and rifle at the same time. And I live in Black Bear country. My house is deep in the woods, a quarter mile from the nearest neighbor, and I've had them come into my back yard.

I always carry a sidearm when hunting. No reason, just because. I used to carry a Glock 19 but now carry a Taurys PT1911.

Congratulations-I hope it does well for you. I carry a handgun when I go hunting. I like knowing I have another option when I lay my rifle down in order to put my climber on/or off the tree.

PT845 was the first HG I ever purchased. I picked it up as a SHTF backup for hunting hogs with 22LR. My sights were way off vertically. I sold it off after inheriting several other guns that hit POA. For the price it beats a sharp stick
