I bought a new Ruger LC9

At that size and weight, I'll stick with my Kahr P45.
For a real pocket pistol, my PM9 is smaller and lighter...by a good bit. Also paid for and well-proven.

Nice gun:cool:

I looked at one at my local shop about a week ago and was mighty tempted.

My only gripe with the LC9 is the fact that it has a hammer but is not double-strike capable, I just can't figure that part out.

The safety is useless on that firearm, won't be buying one unless they get rid of the safety.

Anyone with size comparison pics....

LC9 vs. j-frame?

LC9 vs. Kahr PM9?

LC9 vs. LCP?

How is the trigger on the LC9?
It sucks, just like the trigger on most all these type guns.
I contacted Ruger and told them, If you are going to put a thumb safety on the gun you should have put a decent trigger on the gun instead of the typical long hard crappy trigger that's used on these type guns.

How's the recoil? The Kel Etc PF9 bites. How does recoil compare to the PF9?
I don't have a PF9 but I do have a P-11. The P-11 kicks a good bit more than the LC9.

The LC9 recoil isn't bad. It's about what you would expect from a light weight 9mm.
A lady shot mine a couple days this week. She said the recoil isn't bad but it's not a gun she would like to shoot a lot.
She admitted that she is spoiled by the Beretta PX4 that she has shot a lot.

Five men have shot my LC9 and all said the recoil was no problem.
Everyone complains about the trigger.
I've shot most of 800 rounds through the gun and I'm still not used to the trigger.

>>You know why America is a great country? Because we have hickok45<<

You got that right! I trust him over any gun magazine!

I went looking for an lc9 today was thinking maybe trying a small semi auto again since I fine what I have read so far on the lc9. Was unable to fine one but the one shop I went to that did get 3 in over a week ago the guy told me they sold right away. I ask what he got for them and he told me $479.00. If that what they are going to go for here in south Texas I will just keep carrying my 642.

be safe

Started calling the stores here in north Florida and no luck - none in stock and nobody knows when they'll get them in. This is common with new guns and in 6 months they should be easier to get. Bud's Gun Shop is out of stock but was offering them around $395 or so. Low 400s sounds like a reasonable price when you find one.

While I like carrying the SR9c, this looks like a good addition to the lineup. Sometimes I want something a bit smaller, but I have no interest in .380 - 9mm is my minimum cartridge. Hopefully somebody will make a trigger option that pushes the break point a bit further forward. Also, I'm curious to know what the magazine disconnect safety removal procedure is for this gun.

What is it the LC9 offers that would make someone want it rather than a CM9 at about the same price?

Having not shot one I'm not knocking the LC9, but based on dimensions and with the reports on it's trigger all compared to the Kahr trigger and the CM9's smaller and lighter size I just wondered what all the LC9 excitement is all about?

Too high.
My local gun store is a bit high on guns and mine was $400 OTD.

I passed the thousand round mark yesterday.

I was just going to shoot 50 rounds but the gun's so fun I ate up another 100+ rounds rapid fire and blasting tin cans on the berm.:D

I guess I'm getting use to the gun because the trigger felt OK and the recoil was mild.

Last night I showed the LC9 to a friend that was going to buy a LCP. After looking it over and trying it in a pocket he decided to get the LC9 instead.

I'm about to buy an LC9. $379 + FFL transfer from a bordering state's shop which seems pretty reasonable. This will be my first Ruger handgun. I currenlty own a S&W 386, Glock 22, Sig 229R.

I'm looking for something to concealled carry in shorts and T-shirts and this seems like a good choice. I was leaning towards a G27, but the weight and girth for summer carry lead me to look into the LC9. Not to mention the price difference.

Anybody think I'm crazy?

I don't think your crazy but you can do better size wise.

Thanx for re-assuring me that I'm not crazy :)

I know there are probably better choices for easy CCW, but I want to stick to 9mm at a minimum and under $400. That limits the field for sure, so the LC9 quickly rose to the top of my list. Being it's a new model I'm a little hesitant to jump so fast on one, but all the good feedback here and from guys like Hickok45 and Jeff Quinn I'm pretty confindent it will be a winner.

I'm a definite Glock and .40 cal fanboy, but can't deal with the added bulk even the sub-compacts provide. I'm a better than average marksman and while 9mm rounds aren't always known for true stopping power my thoughts are if you can put your shots where they are intended then you can end any firefight with any caliber.

I just want to point out the difference in size between the LC9 and the CM9/PM9. The CM9 will probably run about $30 to $50 more than the LC9.

I haven't shot an LC9 butI would be very surprised if the LC9 trigger where even close to the quality of the Kahr triggers.

I really don't see what all the hype is about the ruger LC9 its not really that small and compact of a gun. When comparing it to my medium size glock 23 it is only a 1" shorter, 1/4" thinner and 1/4" shorter in height than my 13 shot glock 23. When compared to the glock 26 , the LC9 is not really much smaller at all.

The cheapest I recall seeing the PM9's is $500. I had a G27 I used to wear in a pancake holster and it wasn't the most comfortable after 4+ hrs so I imagine wearing it in an IWB would be worse. I loved the gun and would buy another, but they are selling for around $550. If I could find one cheaper I'd probably buy it, but then I'd have to speed another $100 on a good, thick IWB.

I'm looking to wear the LC9 in an sub $50 IWB so I'd expect a thinner and lighter gun is better.
