I chose a ______ as a CCW because:

CZ75D PCR
It's ultra reliable and fits my hand perfectly.
Carried 2:00 IWB it fits my build.
14+1 is comforting.
Can use any CZ75 magazine.
No manual safety.
I have a full-size all-steel CZ75 for practice.
I can shoot lead for economy.
I like the safety of first shot DA.
I like the safety of the decocker.

I also have a 442, TCP, and a P7 for carry. I am looking for another single-stack 9mm to replace the P7 right now.

I chose a Glock 9mm as a CCW because it is a reliable platform that I enjoy. I usually carry a Glock 19 but sometimes I carry a Glock 17 if I am able to carry a larger gun. When a smaller gun is needed the Glock 26 meets my needs as well. I like the Glock platform as all of my guns are essentially the same and very reliable. I like being able to use the larger capacity magazines if need be and having the same trigger as well as sights on all of the guns.

Summer: Keltec PF9, one spare magazine

Spring/Fall: CZ-75B 9mm, one spare magazine

Winter: Kimber STII 10mm, two spare magazines

I prefer a bigger hollow point in the Winter due to clothing. The Gold Dot HPs in .401 are significantly bigger than the ones in 9mm, and since the 10mm load I use hits 1340 fps that bullet is going to open up.

A 1911 .45 acp because: While a 9mm may expand, a .45 isn't going to shrink. :D

To be serious, I have more than one CCW. I can't always carry my 1911 due to destinations and mode of dress. During those times (typically during the summer) I pocket carry a .380 Bodygaurd. After all, a .380 in the pocket is better than a .45 in the safe.

I carry my G 36, mostly. It allows 7 rds of 230 gr Gold Dot, slim, and fits well in my IWB Aholster. It is comfortable, shoots well and is reliable.

Most of the time (98%), I carry my Glock 19. This firearm holds 15 rounds in the magazine. If I have to wear a shirt tucked in or more formal, I'll carry a Kel-Tec p-32 in a pocket holster & a spare magazine also. This gun has a 7 round magazine.

But, I admit that I'm considering switching to my G19 after an incident a couple of weekends ago. My car was surrounded by about 25 youngsters. A few of them started pounding on the car. I don't want to exaggerate the situation as I was nervous but comfortable in the fact that I could accelerate and escape, but would likely run into one or two and escalate the situation. Long story short, LEO rolled up to the stop sign across from me and scattered the herd.

The threat level wasn't that high at that point. Nobody needed to be hurt by vehicle or gun. Both options were there if it had escalated. These were high-school kids posturing and showing off. But it did get me thinking about my choice.

I disagree. How many people do you know start attacking cars in the road? It's never happened to me. I would say that it's a very unlikely event and those who do it are up to no good. In this case, it comes down to the judgement of the driver and he thought it wasn't serious.

A mob is more than capable of killing a person, even if every person in the mob is unarmed. The actions of the mob indicated an attack was in progress and ready to escalate into deadly violence. A driver could easily be knocked out by a brick or rock thrown through the window. The aggression of the mob was already established, an attack was in progress, and they had the means to inflict great bodily harm.

Fortunately, a police officer was present and nothing bad happened.

Glock 23. Have been using the same gun for 18 years. I think it is the perfect size for CCW gun, I wanted the .40 because I just prefer it over 9mm. The gun is nearly indestructible, perfectly reliable, light and has great round capacity and is accurate enough for the job. The only thing I have truly considered replacing it with is a Gen 4 G23.

I have two different carry weapons. Each one depends on the situation/weather/clothing.

My first and definitely my favorite 9mm is my HK USP9 Compact. I went through MANY different firearms and calibers before I decided on the USP as my carry piece. I started out with Glocks to M&P's to revolvers to Ruger to Sig and HK's. Of all of them, the HK just fit my hand nicely and gave me a great sight picture from the get go. No having to readjust my grip or learn new angles or anything like that. The HK just fit. The recoil is beyond manageable with is recoil buffer system. The only thing I didn't like was HK's version of sight picture/sight alignment. But, considering MOST encounters take place within 25 feet that was a moot point.

When its really hot or when I'm just running out to a the store or to get gas I go with my Bodyguard 380. This is definitely the best shooting 380 I've ever shot. I owned Keltec/Ruger/Bersa and the S&W BG380 is the easiest to hold and shoot for me. I dont use the laser too often.

If money is an issue, I'd say stick with glock/ruger/S&W. If money is not issue or you don't mind spending a bit more I HIGHLY recommend looking at HK and Sig especially in the 9mm, 357 sig, and 45 cal. Dont want to start an arguement, but 40's don't do it for me.

I chose a .45, because they don't make a .46.

If I didn't carry a 1911, I'd carry a Hi Power or a CZ 75. I like big heavy steel single-action service pistols and have no trouble concealing them.

PM45. I like .45 ACP and this one is as light and almost as small as the PPK/s it replaced. I live in the south and like something that is pocketable. On cold days in the winter I switch to a Combat Commander since I am happier wearing cover garments in the cold and the 1911 gives better control overall.

I switched from my Glock 23 to

one of several 1911's, usually my Kimber Tac Pro II. My second most used carry gun is a Kimber Ultra. I can hit the target faster and more precisely with my 1911 than I can my Glocks. I still love the Glocks, and the higher capacity has me wanting to go back to them, but I feel perfectly safe with my 1911 and two spare mags. I started competing in IDPA and found that I was more accurate and a little faster with the 1911, so I stick with it.

Springfield Armory "Champion" 1911-A1. 4" barrel, good sized night sights. Just a bit smaller than the "GI-45"

I have 3 guns that I like to carry. I carry my LCP most of the time because it is the easiest to carry and conceal, sometimes I carry a clock 19 as a step up but if my paranoia is high I carry a 1911 .45ACP for things like going to Walmart.:)

I bought a new Kahr .40 because Massad Ayoob said it was a very good carry gun. That was 9 years ago and it is a very good gun and I still carry it.
