I clearly need to be mentally committed, I went and purchased this....

Tennessee Highway Patrol issued the SW40F.

Ok. I thought so. Mines very clearly marked. Big star and all. lol. Too much. But I couldn't remember if it was TN or GA. I guess the p 94 was the GA gun.

I used to buy a lot of marked guns cheap. Nobody wanted them. Sometimes nowdays they actually bring a premium.

I only have one agency marked gun that I specifically lusted after. The WVSP 4566TSW. Why? Because that configuration was only made for them.

I never really cared all that much for the Ruger P Series of semi-autos. To me they just didn't seem all that ergonomic and I couldn't get a comfortable grip on them. Balance and handling felt somewhat awkward as well.

It wasn't until the SR Series came out that I finally found a Ruger pistol (an SR9c), that I liked enough to buy it.

That is my blatant Glock ripoff of choice as well

Is there a fix for the original bad trigger?

If not, why would you bother with this gun? It seems like there are SO many more important things to spend money on than a historic dud gun.

Miami as long as you like it & enjoy having it around that is really all that matters. I still have a Ruger P94 chambered for .40 S&W that I keep around. I did a lot of learning with that gun. I very rarely shoot it but there is a certain sentimental attachment. I've never owned a Sigma but I have shot a friends SD9VE & aside from the heavy trigger it is nice enough. I would not consider myself to be at a disadvantage if I were using one for self defense. It would probably just take a little more work to get used to the trigger than the guns I use now. But what do I know I carried a Kel-Tec P-11 for a time. The Sigma trigger is a dream compared to it.

If you practice with it, you’ll be able to hit an 8” pie tin at 15 yards at least 50% of the time. :-D

That one mag looks like it has powder burns on it. I wonder if there was a squib and then a follow up shot......

I don't know how well Sigmas function in general but in terms of appearance, I think they look pretty nice; much better looking than many, if not most, auto pistols on the market, imo.

The SW9F shoots fine. I did some accuracy drills on the head and small top left target, then went and did two and three shot rapid fire self-defense drills. Took a few tries to get used to the longer reset, but it is pretty much like shooting a spongy DA revolver trigger.

I had the RSO shoot it too. He's younger than the gun. He had a tricked out G19X with all the modern features. He was surprised at the trigger being what it was, but even he said, it wasn't bad.

The Sigma series was designed when the mindset for law enforcement and self-defense guns was that a long and somewhat heavy pull that replicates the DA pull of a revolver or wonder-nine hammer fired gun was the way to go.

I shoot everything under the sun. GLOCKs, 1911s, Rugers, Walthers, Berettas, SIGs, S&Ws, Colts, etc... DA Revolvers, SAAs, DA/SA autos, SAOs, DAOs, etc...

Shooting the SW9F is like shooting a DAO SIG before the SRT/DAK kit.

Hell, my SW9F surprised so much, I went and got a SD9VE to accompany it.

Is the Sigma the best gun out there? Nope. But is it bad? Meh, for under $300, I've seen far worse guns that are more expensive. The Sigma in that category is a good deal. It puts 9mm where I want it at a self-defense distance and it does it reliably.

Will I be using it as a three gun pistol for nationals? Hell no! But it is a pistol of a bygone era and makes turning money into noise, fun, in the same way that watching your favorite b-movie slasher flick is fun.
