I do so love my country

Fosbery,

I would say take a look at Indiana. We are "D" rated by the Brady 'bots which means we have it pretty good here. You can get a lifetime CCW license, we have the Castle Doctrine in effect, no restrictions on magazines and you will usually have a gun range available within a 30 minute or less drive of home.

The weather here is cool to cold in the winter and summer temps are usually within reason (unlike Texas, Florida or Arizona). Indianapolis would be a great place to seek employment in finance - it is the state capitol and is a city of 1 million plus people; I have worked there while living in another town, which I would recommend.

Most people in Indiana are easy to get along with - you will run in to the "big city attitude" in Indianapolis a little, but for the most part people are friendly and easygoing.

True, Indiana has no mountains or coastline, but southern Indiana - especially Monroe and Brown counties -are hilly, woodsy and beautiful, especially in the autumn.

Good luck with your search!

Come on out, you will like it. I can drive less than 100 miles in one direction and water ski, drive less than 100 miles in another direction and snow ski, hike in the desert, camp in the National Forests, enjoy magnificent vistas, enjoy the benefits of many cultures, hike in the mountains, canoe on the lakes, fly fish some of the finest waters in the world, get away from the crowds or mingle with the masses, enjoy world class opera, enjoy a great dinner, etc.

Additionally, I can carry a concealed handgun (and a couple of evil knives, or a cane!), and shoot my weapons with very, very few restrictions.

Thats all fine and dandy but Citizens of the U.K. are not welcome in the US, we are not even allowed to enter the green card lottery:banghead:

I had a work permit in the U.S. back in '97 and loved every minute of it, but they won't let me back in now :( and I've not done anything wrong.

With current (bad) state of affairs over here it's not hard to see why it's going down hill, even the police don't get the support they need. If the police dept. now get sued for something, it's the individual officer that get sued and if he loses, then forfits his/her pension as well. It's plain to see why the police don't take action when it's needed.

Put on a sombrero and sneak across. Answer everything with "Si senor". Jorge Bush will get all your papers in order.

Orangelo, lol

MEX Customs: What is the purpose of your visit to Mexico?
You: Immigration.
MEX Customs: Senor, you are aware that Mexico has a VERY strict immigration policy? You can't just show up in the country.
You: No, No, I mean immigration to America.
MEX Customs: Oh, Very good senor, enjoy your stay.
:neener:

On the other hand, I think I should move to England. It sounds like with a bad additude and a wicked grin I could have the run of the country. I could steal, push people around, break stuff, and if the cops come after me all I have to do is run away at a slow jog (since they wont chase me).

Some of these Brits that are being terrorized by gangs of yobs should band together with bats and clubs to chase them off. If the police show up and ask them to come off to prison, simply refuse. The police will be soo stunned that good citizens would not immediately obey their comands that they will leave shocked and flabbergasted and not know what else to do.

After all, it isn't proper or civil to disobey the police.;)

Wow... I guess that's because you're not cheap labor.

Orangelo's got it. I live in Mexifornia (California). Illegals have a right to welfare (thanks to the Ninth short-circuit). The Circuit-clowns struck down a widely supported state proposition that would have denied certain public benefits, and more (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/California_Proposition_187_(1994) ). They are eligible for in-state college tuition costs. Ie., illegals do not have to pay the much more expensive out of state tuition costs that American citizens must pay. Your emergency medical care will be free (until they shut-down the emergency rooms). I could go on and on and on and on...:fire: :fire: :fire: :fire: :fire:

He isn't,he is an estate agent,if Im correct.Sigh, there is always a catch to living abroad, where there is more choice of guns, then in the USSK.Also you don't have to go through the ridiculous screening proceedures, that last for 4 to 6 months.

I know an anti-gun person, who might immigrating to Kentucky soon and I am very jealous of him, because the fool won't accept shooting sports, for what they are and still clings to the classical view of:the public don't need guns.

By the way,Is it harder for non-cheap labor persons,to settle in America?

I am not sure, having never tried it myself. However, I think it is a lot easier if you allready have a job lined up. I was at a trade show talking with some people from a company in Canada. They suggested that I some to work for them and I asked them how hard was it to immigrate. They said they have had several US citizens come work for them, the company sponsors them and that really speeds up the process.

I am not sure if it works the same way in America, but I think if you have a job lined up a decent sized company they might be able to "fast-track" your immigration, or at least allow you to live and work here while you are being "processed".
