This happened in the parking lot of a Home Depot in Philadelphia earlier this week. My uncle works there and witnessed it.

Woman requests that police be called. Her new Saab has been stolen from the lot. Police come. Northstar is contacted to track the car and in a few minutes the cop tells the woman to keep her eyes and ears open for the car's flashing lights and honking horn. Car is located in the same parking lot and the woman remembers she'd moved it when a better space became available. Rather than relieved, she still seems very nervous and asks the officer to come with her to check the car and make sure nothing was stolen. She gives him the keys and he looks inside the passenger area. He then pops the trunk and steps back a little when he sees a rifle, a pistol and a kevlar vest. He asks if the guns are loaded and the woman replies, "I don't know. They came with the package. Can you deload them?" Just then a sheaf of papers starts blowing out of the trunk and the woman yells, "Officer, get those! They're classified!"

By way of explanation the woman produces i.d. and tells them that she's a federal prosecutor assigned to the Homeland Security Task Force under Tom Ridge. The cop says the credentials are legit and the car also has government plates. She had just received this package, the car and its contents, a day or two before.

Woman (about 30) leaves the 60ish officer muttering to my uncle that he's glad he only has two weeks to retirement and when he goes back to write this up nobody's gonna believe it.

Feel safe?

Can't be true, men shop at Home Depot and certainly not female Saab drivers! Does our government have a fleet of Saabs? Say it ain't so! Sincerely, Male Chauvinist Pig :)

You know, I probably wouldn't either. It's not a friend-of-a-friend type of thing. My uncle works in customer service and was the one who called the police for the woman. He was with her when the cop came and stood right there as all this transpired. He related it to me just tonight at the kitchen table. I wouldn't blame anybody for not believing it because it is literally incredible. But I know my uncle and I have to tell you I can't help but believe -- against all good sense. My uncle was flabbergasted himself and he is not known for practical jokes. Ed

FWIW, that female FBI employee was murdered by the sniper at the Falls Church Home Depot . . . Some one ought to get all over the idiot that gave that twinkie "the package" without proper training/supervison/oversight. That woman sounds like she shouldn't be out unsupervised in general.

:what: Why would they give a gun to someone who doesn't know the first thing about them? She'd probably shoot her foot off!:banghead:

Folks this kind of stuff happens more often than you think. About a year or so ago a female FBI agent left an MP-5 and several other firearms in plain sight when she parked her car in Queens New York. Well, someone decided to break the glass and take them. What do you think happened to that agent? Nothing.

There are competent people in government but there are plenty who could not find their backsides with a pair of boxing gloves.

The FBI crime lab, Mr. Hanson, and botched investigations show the FBI to have serious problems.

Waco, harassment of FFL's, and other stupidity show the BATF to have its own set of problems.

The CIA was gutted by the previous administration(Klinton).

Are you really surprised that some folks are not squared away?
Quite frankly the government appears at times to be a walking Mongolian Cluster...........

I have no doubt this happened. I just hope someone had the good sense not to give this nitwit anything too sensitive. Hell of a way to run a railroad!:banghead:

Since it involves a government idiot I accept it just on GP. :D But not everybody does, ed...gotta police report? News article? Sworn statement from your unc? How about the mag from the rifle or pistol? :D
