I found a new S&W Sigma 9mm

Good gun for that price. I like the trigger. Is that a price on the net? I might get a second one for 259.
 
I too had the SW40ve. It was a second hander, and the trigger was still very rough. Heavy, but rough. So, I called S&W about this, not so much as researching the infamous trigger Sigmas possess. They sent me a shipping label and smoothed it out for me, no charge, even though I wasn't the original owner. When it came back, was SO much better. I'd say, without a gauge, it went from 11-12 lbs down to 7-8 lbs with a smooth pull and crisp break. Dry firing helps this, but I'm not that patient. :)
 
I have a Sigma in .40 S&W they sell at Cabelas for as low as $295.00 I truly love mine it functions flawlessly,does not need a lot of lube in fact probably less is better.As for the trigger it took a little time to get used to it, but once you master it you'll love it. Keep in mind this is a true defense weapon the trigger is actually part of the safety of the weapon.You can pull it with confidence that the weapon is not going off because of a light trigger.

Yep, trigger sucks. S&W will smooth it out for free, but it's still heavy. Rumor has it Apex tactical is supposed to come out with a trigger kit for it.

Besides the trigger pull, I think this gun is the best kept secret ever. For such a low price you have a perfectly reliable and well functioning carry piece. I carried mine everyday for a year or so. Is it the greatest gun ever? No, but damn hard to beat for that price.

You can expect greatness from a Glock-off. The Sigma also sports a two second field strip, which can't hurt.

I have one in 40 and it is a very good gun especially for the money. Smith did smooth out the trigger on mine after I had used it for several years and it was only about 10 days round trip and no charge. Many people cry about the trigger being difficult to master but it is better than my Colt Trooper in double action. If you are an old wheel gun guy these triggers are no problem. Mine had never had a problem with firing or ejection till I somehow managed to get a 9mm in the middle of a magazine, still don't know how it happened but it did feed and fire but didn't eject. This pistol has had many thousands of rounds through it and has been a great one.
 
Thats about dealer cost so you got a good deal and actually better than dealers price. They are a good reliable pistol and one of the top sellers for many distribitors.

If you got the high cap mags with it you got a good deal.

field strips exactly like a Glock. In fact, besides the grip angle, trigger, and price, it is a Glock.
 
Have mine in .9mm. Love it! I like the trigger, shoots great and eats everything I give it! At 259 it's a steal
 
I had a 40VE. It wasn't my favorite, but it's a good deal for the price. It was very reliable with everything except Monarch ammo. I'd get 2-3 jams per magazine with that. No problems with anything else though. Definately worth $259 IMO.
 
My wife's Sigma has a great trigger now after a very fast trip back to S&W.

She gave it 2 years to smooth out with use, but before the repair, that was one gritty, bumpy trigger ride. You could hear it in the room as it ground down to the breaking point.

It did come back from service just a shade lighter, but still the heaviest trigger in the house.

Great gun. Inexpensive, but it works, accurately.
 
A few years ago I made a concerted effort to love the Glock 17 with the stock trigger. Never could shoot it well and traded it off with no remorse.

About 6 months ago I got a 9mm Sigma and it was a whole different story. I'm not a big 9mm fan but a good one has it's place. In a Fobus holster it's light, flat, quick,and comfortable. Trigger's just fine with me as I'm mostly a DA wheel gunner anyway.

I have a hunch it'll be in the line for quite a while as people find out what a sleeper they are.
 
Definitely pick it up. Its a good reliable gun and with the $ you save I'd put it into a better trigger.
 
As other said solid accurate pistol. Send it in with a "gritty trigger issue" . Let sw smooth it up. Then change the strick spring to a wolf lighter spring and have great pistol. Many of us that don't mind play'n with them have lightend our triggers up to 6 to 7 lbs. Great price on that 9mm too.
 
Sigmas get bashed on a lot but the fact is they are great pistols. I actually prefer them over Glock as I like long trigger pull for safety over the Glock short and light pull. Basically they are a Glock made by Smith and Wesson with a long and heavy trigger that can be made pretty nice and at half the price of a Glock.
 
I wouldn't do anything to the striker spring though. Why risk light strikes when SHTF? I just removed the torsion spring on mine and it's better. Still hard enough for safety but smoother now. The sear and the striker springs are still intact as they should be.
