I Give Up - Primers & Powder

Might be better off to find someone who can go in with you on a big purchase of primers over the internet to help offset the hazmat and shipping charges.

Up here, the average price for 1k of CCI is $33.

My dealer just got in an order of 100,000 Federal Small Pistol Primers that he ordered last January. His distributor told him they're working through the orders and shipping what they can get, in the order they were placed. They're one year behind on orders, just because they weren't able to get the product.

All the primers in this order were pre-sold, and he has another order in for 200,000 SP primers that he placed last February. He did receive 100,000 Small Rifle primers a month ago, and those were also pre-sold. At least they're starting to show up.

Hope this helps.

It seems to me the longer a gunshop/sporting goods store has been in bussiness, and the better rep they have with distributors, the more likely they are to be able to get reloading components.

I live a few miles from an old-school family owned gunshop who usually has stuff, at reasonable prices, even when everyone else is out. But the "emporium" down the street, who charges rediculous prices, only gets a box here and a box there, and never anything with any consistency.

If you have a local indoor pistol range that reloads for their customers see if they will piggy back your stuff on their next order?

I have had primers for a month but 9mm bullets can't be found yet.

I found primers at Gander Mountain for $3.50/100 & it wasn't any cheaper to buy them by the 1000.

Even Walmart has almost everything back in stock. The only problem is I buy one box of ammo to do some shooting & the guy behind me or in front of me buys all they have. I will still try to save some for the next guy & wait for some more. This way save me some money because I'm not using as much.

find a place like powder vally or grafs and put in an order and wait. show them some money and you will get your primers .

kingmt - 'longdayjake' here on 'thr' has (or had) 124gr jhp 9mm slugs at a great price. some accuracy testing revealed groups as good as speer & nosler and crude expansion testing showed great expansion and slug stayed together - someting pricey Golden Sabres don't always do.

LDJ's JHP .380 slugs do NOT stay together on expansion. I'll have to give his 9mm a try.

But yes, there are 9mm bullets available right now from some vendors.

The jacketed bullets that I sell are Montana Gold which do expand, but I have had reports that they sometimes stay together and sometimes the jacket loses its core. I do not use them for self defense, but I have used the .357 for rabbit hunting with good results. (no surprise). The powerbond bullets I sell keep about 99.9% of their weight and mushroom somewhat reliably, but I wouldn't put them in the same class as a gold dot. In the end they are really good and very accurate bullets that will give you better terminal results than an FMJ, but for a premium self defense bullet you will have to pay a premium.
