I have a confession to make

Don’t forget that when driving, you are effectively armed with a self-propelled multi-ton bludgeon. A pedestrian opponent, even one with a firearm, is at something of a disadvantage.

unarmed person in a car is better than a gunwielding person on foot to a point... but if someone is too close to get pointed at them, yer screwed, or too far away with ample firepower and aim, yer screwed. E

I read a book the other day. Fussel's Wartime. He talked at length about interviews with combat veterans who said that they were welcomed into the fraternity of men who have faced death when their buddies noticed that they had soiled themselves. No joking, no pointing and laughing, nothing funny about it. All of the more seasoned men saw it and said things like "been there," or "yeah, that happens," or somesuch. For the men who didn't have such immediate and visible symptoms, there was always the aftermath. The sight of men vomiting uncontrollably, laying curled up on the ground sobbing, or running off for a quick change of uniform minutes, hours, or days after a fight, particularly their first, is very common.

It happens, and it certainly doesn't make you a sniveling little girl.

I also think it was a normal reaction. In the Army (and in a couple of cases outside) I ended up in situations where I was 110 % alert and, I believe, I did the right things. Later on, after the crisis was over, I would find myself with my hearth pumping at full throttle, sweating, and thinking of all the things that could have gone wrong. I believe that what's important is to have this reaction AFTER the fact...

I found this article on the Gun zone interesting in this respect:

Ahhh ... the surge of adrenaline - true breakfast of arse kickin' champions! It fills your pit with butterflies; it gives you the trembles and makes you feel weak all over; the actual case is just the opposite, and I wouldn't want to be the one with a bat messing with you. Do Not underestimate your potentials!

...was in an unfamiliar suburb and was entering a roundabout...

Welcome to Massachusetts (England maybe?) and THR. I'm sure the "crazy driver" was just going to give you an official Boston Red Sox bat as a gift.

Respectfully,

carry your gun!

I will also tell you that even though I am licensed to carry, I do not and was not carrying at the time.

It is your duty to protect your life.

Carry your gun, and if need be, use it to defend your life.
You have a responsibility to your family to come home alive
