Cleaning my guns.
There have been a rash of bank robberies in the last few months (link), and it's the perfect excuse for a bank run by antis to put up signs barring concealed handguns. I'm proud my bank (Simmons, if you read the article) hasn't done so.

Instead, as I just recently noticed, they put up signs telling customers to remove all hoods, head coverings, and sunglasses before entering. They realize keeping law-abiding citizens, like myself, from carrying won't stop the crimes and could cost them some buisness (also including me :D).

BTW, the bank where the murder occurred has a sign barring concealed handguns. :banghead: When are they going to learn?

Anyone switched banks because of the signs or convinced management to reverse their policy?

Yes I did.

The first time I had to exit the bank's entrance to the lobby to "...empty any metal items into (my) car." When I exited, I kept right on going. On that day, I was not carrying. It was my cellular telephone setting the system off. But, all the same, it told me their mentality. People exiting that bank are targets for BGs who know for fact...fact, these people are not carrying, and probably has money (entering or exiting).

I have to brag on my bank too, they just gave me a $20k line of credit to buy guns. Thanks!

David

I'm far from a grammar Nazi, but for the love of Jimmy Hoffa, you brag about things, not on them.

My branch has the "hats and sunglasses" sign. I have told the manager it should simply read, "please do not commit any crimes," and get right to the point.

My bank (Bank of America) has the hat policy, but not sunglasses. You can CCW all day long.

My hometown BOA has had the same employees from back when it used to be Nationsbank, before it got bought out. They've known me literally since I was born, and many of them are good friends. Several even brought gifts when my wife and I had our son.

The security guard and myself usually strike up a good gun conversation. He carries a nice Colt Python, but with some kind of nasty aftermarket synthetic grips. He knows I CCW, and couldn't care less.

Wachovia in my area DOESN'T get it. Some guys (not yet caught) have hit a string of banks, always targeting Wachovia and what was their response? To put up extra "no weapons allowed" signs (they already have nice little ones etched into the door glass). I found it especially ironic that they are doing this in the middle of Washington DC!

Fortunately I do no business with them.

NC State law prohibits concealed carry in Banks! :banghead:

However I very rarely need to go, and when I do I just use the drive up teller.

While you are correct for proper US English, it's perfectly acceptable in much of the US to brag on someone. One tends to brag on a person or group. You wouldn't brag on an accomplishment. You'd beat your chest a little instead.

I think you mean "rag." From Dictionary.com:

–verb (used with object)
1. to scold.
2. to subject to a teasing, esp. in an intense or prolonged way (often fol. by on): Some of the boys were ragging on him about his haircut.
3. British. to torment with jokes; play crude practical jokes on.

Bru333, I can't believe it's against state law to carry into a bank in North Carolina. That sounds more like one of those darn Massachusetts laws (but, thankfully, it isn't).

Actually, the law (statute 14‑415.11) only prohibits CCW permit holders from concealed carry in "financial institutions", doesn't say anything about open carry.

In Minnesota, neither Wells Fargo nor US Bank are posted.

Many of the small banks are. WF and UAB have taken a lot of accounts away from the little banks just by respecting their customers. I moved 4 personal, 7 business, and 2 brokerage accounts to WF because of their policy. That's a lot of money and I made sure they knew WHY they were getting it.

:)

i just don't understand all these silly off-limits and public posting laws in areas where concealed carry has been recently established.

in places where concealed carry has been available for the longest time (all of new england, for example), banks have never been off-limits IIRC.

states like NC puzzle me. you can't carry in the places where you'd need a CCW the most.

My bank doesn't have any of that foolishness and I wouldn't put up with it if they did.

A bank is one place where I especially want to be armed, and I am.

You guys are so lucky that can carry in a bank. I work in one and they don't let me carry at work. Phooey! :cuss:

I don't think we have any policy regarding CHL inside our lobbies. A couple of my good customers are usually carrying whenever they come to see me. Heckfire, I cannot even carry when I come to the bank on my day off. Not like I enjoy my job that much to visit on my day off, but you get the idea.

AFAIK, we here in brutally Brady beaten NY can still CCW in banks. :) Ive also never seen a sign forbidding weapons.

I open carry in my Wachovia branch. They could care less.

There was a large Bank president (convention) and all the banks got "NO GUNS" signs put up. I went and talked to bank pres and (broke) his brain washing. He said he was embarassed he fell for it. Signs came down in less then a week. Other bank (I used to do business with) the Pres. got VERY upset when I talked to him and I pulled $$$ out and never looked back.
