I just don't get it

She is talking to her base. Firing them up to donate money to her campaign if/when she runs. Just politics as usual. Gun control cost her husband the House. That message wouldn't have been lost on her.

Well, seeing as responsible gun restrictions like AWB and background checks are planks in the official party platform...I kinda doubt it :scrutiny:. Sorry man, but them's the breaks; be a 2nd amendment single-issue voter and put up with the Republican shortcomings (until they eventually become truly anti-gun), or stop complaining about Dem (and partnering Rep) infringements on your civil liberties in this area. While Rep's have massive shortcomings themselves, a group that is at least not openly hostile to an empowered populace has got to be better for civil liberties at large in the long run than a party pursuing the opposite.

They "get it," they just don't like it, and refuse to accept it. So, they conjure all manner of mental/legal trickery to convince themselves and others that black is white and the Constitution either does not mean what it plainly says, or does not matter, regardless. It's easy to prove/show that the wording is plain and irrefutable, but then they'll just fall back on their idiotic "living document" or "just a piece of paper" or "we live in different times" baloney. Which is basically a rejection of the rule of law in this nation, and that's where I typically end the conversation.

He was able to sign one of the most significant gun control laws we've had into law though.

AND he was re-elected after having signed that law!

You think they are afraid of what could happen if they trample all over our Rights?

HA! I think not.

Hey, that's what we all said about Obama some years back :). Her party is presently convinced that a demographic 'wave' is on their side which will allow them to pursue everything they've ever wanted, and steamroll the intransigent opposition; I don't think they've learned a darn thing.

And apart from allowing National Parks carry, what other gun laws has 0bama signed into law?

THR doesn't do politics.

Which is a good thing for Obama and gun control, because we could talk about his love for gun control indefinitely without running out of material.

They're hoping to indoctrinate enough of our children, (which actually belong to the state now, supposedly) to eventually convince them that it's ok to do away with our Constitution and write a new liberal Democrat style constitution.

He >(Bill Clinton)< was able to sign one of the most significant gun control laws we've had into law though.

That is important to remember... we should never forget that.

dimeshooter, Welcome. Read the rules regarding politics. Some self censorship is needed to post on this site. If I posted many of the things I believed, I would be long gone. ;)

She gets it. It is all about control. Not controlling the guns but the populace. An unarmed populace is much easier to control.

The problem here is the Supreme Court has been turned into a joke by allowing politicians to appoint them for life. They're just like a corrupt policeman.

There is a solution, albeit not a simple solution. Motivate the gun owners to vote, and vote to "re-elect NOBODY!" Throw the entire group of bums out and replace them with a new cast of bums. And if the new bums begin to think they are our betters, throw them out too. As a wiser man than I said, "all politicians should serve two terms - one in office and one in prison"

To quote Thomas Jefferson "...when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security...". Are we at this point yet- we will know better on November 5, 2014.

I'm exposed to the liberal agenda every day. In many of them "facts" don't matter. They have been at the blue Kool-Aid bucket so long they are stupefied followers of the party platform; regardless, of what that platform professes. Many of them are also possessed by a 'victim mentality'. Even if they can't claim to be a victim they seek out "victim" causes. They think they are being preyed on and this is where their mentality and ours differ. They face an aggressor, either real or imagined, by adopting a fish schooling mentality and the 'school' rules. They also believe it is possible to legislatively change the attitude and de-tooth the shark. Our mentality is that we're usually more against being part of a 'school' and when the shark comes we shove a shotgun in his open mouth.

I've challenged many of them with what would you do if...you were attacked or even if your child was attacked...and many of their responses were so cowardly as to be disgusting. They would allow their own child to be murdered instead of fighting back. You can not reason with that type of mentality. While my sample size is small I'm afraid it reflects their population's paradigm.

The other thing I eventually realized was even if I convinced every one of them to not be anti-gun I was not going to make them pro-gun or change their vote. They'll still vote the Uncle Sugar party line.

This is where they have us...we are divided by Republican...Tea party...Christian Right...Libertarian...ad nauseam. We instead of voting Republican in mass will either split our vote or simply won't vote because we are independent thinkers by nature. They, however, will vote straight line Democrat regardless of agenda because of their "fish schooling" there is something for me I want in this school attitude. We vote the candidate...they vote the party line.

This 2014 and the 2016 elections it is critical we stick together and vote as Republicans as one party. I'm a Libertarian and a staunch state rights advocate but I see the danger of what these next two elections being lost by our conservative side will cost. The conservative justices of the SCOTUS are generally old men and six more years and possibly ten is a long time for old men. Almost every decision has gone 5-4 and if we lose one conservative judge...just one...the next sound coming from the justices chamber will be the Constitution being shredded.

For God's sake...our countries sake and our 2nd Amendment's sake...swallow the bitter pill and vote one party and vote Republican. I beg you.

I have had people say similar things ^

A guy I use to work with went on record (On FB, and at work in conversation) saying that he believed lethal force/potentially killing was NEVER acceptable.

I outlined a scenario:

Woman has restraining order against violent ex husband; he kicks her front door down; is drunk; corners her in her bedroom while wielding a large knife; screams he is going to rape and murder her; my former co-worker absolutely insists that she would be way out of line to shoot him, because "we all have options", and 'killing is never acceptable'

I know he isn't the only one who claims these kinds of things

Those people are not going to be swayed, unless their parties positions change, then they'll likely follow and spout whatever their party is preaching at the moment. There's plenty of them on all sides.

She seems to think there's a connection between that guy in the movie theater shooting someone over texting/gum chewing and the 99.99999% of law abiding citizens that carry guns every day without incident. Also I believe that theater shooter was a cop/former cop?

It's about control nothing else. In one (very small) aspect that article amused me because I take it to mean that she is very concerned over this push we've made to take back our Rights.
We all see the bad stuff, the gun control that gets through or tries to every day, but there's a lot we've accomplished over the last 16 months (and longer) and I think it frightens some of the politicians that see their control over the people weakening.

Gun control is a multi-million dollar corporate tax free enterprise with millions being paid in salaries to corporate employees. suppliers of printing...t-shirts, secondary political favors granted and privilege to their executives being rewarded. I'm sure the unfortunate, <and I mean that, Gabby Giffords and her retired government employee husband are suffering under the indulgences bestowed on them by being used as trinkets for the corporate gun control blood suckers.

Many politicians have a blood lust for power and control and as a food and beverage mid-level manager in a major hotel/convention hotel and later as a food and beverage manager at another hotel convention center I've seen the difference between the off stage and on stage personas of politicians. It was startling to see the transition from behind the kitchen door tyrant to in front of the door transition. I've been told by a Marine helicopter guard that Hillary was an incredible tyrant on board Marine One and had hit guards for touching her or Chelsea for reaching out to assist them if they stumbled. Hillary full forced hit a Secret Service agent in the face when he caught her as she stumbled off of a reviewing stand.

That Satanic persona behind the curtain and Evita persona in front is not uncommon for many politicians of either gender.

Ryanxia...you're spot on...Take the approximate 10,680 murders annually here in the United states and divide that by 75,000,000 legitimate gun owners in the United States and see what you get for a number. Then do it for the less than 60 murders a year where "assault rifles" are used and see what number you come up with. Liberals...because they have a group think mentality react in a stampede to a cowboys t-shirt snapping in the wind while drying on the cloths line strung between trees.

The politicians know this and that these people will write checks and vote with that stampede hysteria and group mentality.

Hillary Rodham Clinton said Tuesday, the nation's gun culture has gotten "way out of balance" and the U.S. needs to rein in the notion that "anybody can have a gun, anywhere, anytime."
The former secretary of state and potential 2016 Democratic presidential candidate said the idea that anyone can have a gun is not in the "best interest of the vast majority of people."

If you, like myself, are not or have never been politically active, now is the time for us to start.
We must do everything possible to keep this lady from becoming the next president of our Great Country.

Bob
Thanks 4 the info, I welcome the thread even IF bothers some HRC supporters in this forum. Yes there are some, it's their right as Americans. When HRC becomes president, we need republicans to control the house and senate otherwise we r in trouble.
