You are indeed bowing to the unfettered power of the state to restrict your actions to what they choose to allow you to do.
OTOH, your choices are pretty limited if you don't accept the way things are. Guys with guns enforce the laws. It is about brute force and as an individual, you are well outgunned.
At least in some states, the tide has turned a little bit toward allowing some excercise of our 2A rights, although often in a very restricted way.
The thing is while we have made slight gains in this one area, we have been steadily losing ground in most others.
