So I finally broke down and went to the NRA website and signed up for a year membership (a trial IMO). I hope that this will help us with our rights.

Good for you. I'm a long time member. It's shame more gun owners don't belong. I've heard all of the arguments against it and as far as I'm concerned, although the NRA isn't perfect it's still the best thing going out there for all gun owners.

Glad to have you on board. I hope you will spend some time writing your representatives about the 2nd Amendment and how you would like to see it preserved.

Good job!

Yeah I figured that it would help and that since I am now a member I can put the sticker on my car (once it gets out of the body shop)

I am not going to ask about who supports the NRA and who does not, or what is wrong with it, but is there a place I can read about this on the web?

I signed up yesterday for two years. I've been critical of the NRA because I see them compromise too much.
However, they are the big dog on the block and when the Brady pukes get their panties in a wad, they always blame it on the NRA.

:D

One more member. If every gun owner did the same, the folks in Washington would stand up and take notice, and the brady bunch would be out of business.

No, I don't agree with everything the NRA has ever done. I can't think of a single organization that I agree with on every single issue... I'm an individual, after all. Still, the NRA does far more good than any other Pro2A group, and I'm proud to be a member.

I just got a life membership.

I figure, as a student, that the $500 deal they were running is pretty good. And I support alot of the NRA activities, plus, I must be a member of the NRA to be a member at my local range. I figured that this would be better then buying a new gun- and I still have a half case of ammo left for each of my pistols- it just made sense to engage in political advocacy with my money.

Thanks everyone for the Kudos, I guess I really never thought it was that important, but I guessed wrong!

I don't know how many are aware of this, in fact I think it was here that I found it, but one year NRA memberships are available for free to active duty military. I just got mine last week.

Just FYI.

Good going MSIMONDS.

We current members welcome you.

You active military guys, that are not members, should take advantage of the free membership. Even if no $$$ go to the NRA from you, the added head count increases "political influence"

Congratulations you are supporting the US Constituition. Death to tyrants!
I hope you find the magazines interesting and hope you would consider a lifetime membership. I did last year and feel very positive about the organization and the fellow NRA members I have met along the way.
Welcome!:)

Quite honestly I am still on the fence about joining. I too feel the sentiment that while I don't agree with all of their (read NRA) stances on issues they are indeed the best lobby to represent the RTBA and gun issues in general.

I have arguments daily about this travesty in Virginia and concealed carry. I defend my recreational activities (league skeet shooting, target/bullseye pistol competitions, upland bird hunting and my primary obsession hunting and harvesting whitetails with my bow/muzzleloader/shotgun and rifles).

I know people that were on the LIRR when Ferguson shot the place to bejezzus. While I am personally NOT in favor of high capacity magazines (how can you possibly conceal a weapon with a 30 round mag. in it) and "military" style (dare I say assault type weapons) I don't see a problem with responsibly owning them. Heck, I think it's a hoot to rip of 20 rounds into a watermelon at deer camp.

My main objection to the NRA's stances is this "we give them an inch, they'll take a mile attitude". I waitied till I was in my 40's to get my pistol permit -including the 9 month wait, fingerprinting, interviews, mental health checks ad nauseum that is required in New York. I have absolutely no problem with going through this because it was required where I live to do so and I can only carry under strict circumstances.

Sorry for the "longwindedness" of my post but as one other THR member stated recently "tighten your seat belts guys - this one's going to get ugly".

I think its time to finally make a decision and join.

Is there anyway to sign Sara Brady, Hillary or Pelosi up? We need an address, and DOB. Any takers.

BTW I am a 2 week old member

Welcome, 2 million down, 78 million to go. For the low low price of $3 a month you too can participate in exclusive tournaments, recieve first rate magazines, e-mail alerts and protect the rights of millions.:D probably one of the best deals going.
