It really is high time for everyone concerned about maintaining our Second Amendment rights to join the NRA. The NRA is far from perfect but it's by far our best and strongest voice in WDC.

All the whining, anger and bitterness needs to be suspended for a while. It can't be used as an excuse for apathy during these difficult times. If you can't or don't want to hack the $35/year dues, you can join for $10.00/year sans the monthly magazine.

Click on "Junior, Distinguished and Other Memberships" if you want to sign-up for the $10.00/year membership.

It takes about 90 seconds using a credit or debit card.

The NRA's long delay in responding AND the fact that they rolled over in '94 to the clinton AWB makes me nearly completely turned off to them.

I have been a member for about 7 years and am paid for another 4-5 years of dues but they do not get anymore of my money.... Lets see how they do with this impending doom and then I'll re-evaluate.

I've been a member for longer than I can recall.

My wife and I signed our friend's 10-year-old son to a birthday gift membership last month.

I finally talked my long-time shooting buddy into joining day before yesterday.

Like dropping a pebble in a pool of water, I'm hoping for ripple effects... :)

Are you serious?

That "long delay in responding" was to show some respect for those fallen and their family and friends. No you really want the NRA to act along the lines of a Dianne Feinstein? I certainly do not.

As far as the "clinton AWB", just how would thing be different over the past 10 years had the NRA not existed? Ponder that before crapping on another thread asking people to join what is our best chance to support guns rights in the USA.

Because there are other places I can give my money to as well. I've always been a supporter of the state organizations. I'm sure the NRA will do fine tomorrow. I just don't want to hear the word 'compromise' unless it is preceded by 'will not'.

I've been a member for a number of years. However, $10 for an associate membership was too hard to pass up, I signed up my wife, father and mother.

Some of you cry babies really piss me off. If it was not for the NRA we would have lost our gun rights a long time ago. Strength in numbers people, such it up and join. I am tired of people enjoying the freedoms while the rest of us pay for it.

I am the NRA, sent with Tapatalk 2

I'll be joining if I'm happy with what I hear from their press conference tomorrow.
Membership levels are a HUGE part of the self-determination of how hard a line a rights advocacy group can take. If they walked in to the meeting with 40 million members behind them like AARP (who is anti-gun, by the way) they could write their own ticket and no one would be willing to buck therm. With only 4 million members, they can't take nearly as hard a line.

So, if you, and other non-members aren't happy with what you hear tomorrow, you need to realize that a large part of why they felt they had to compromise was because they didn't have the popular support to take a harder line.

People who want the NRA to take a hard line need to start their own private membership drives to push the membership levels higher. That's the only way the NRA can gain the power it needs to take the "no compromise" stance that many want to see.
I've always been a supporter of the state organizations.
That's commendable, but you need someone representing you at the federal level. It doesn't have to be the NRA, but it needs to be some national gun rights advocacy group. Preferably one with a decent reputation and reasonable clout.

Well said, I 100% agree

So it's a zero-sum game in your case? If you join for ten bucks that means you cannot give other organizations money as well?

Your excuse is the "compromise" word. That's very weak. Just like those people who make a big song and dance out of not voting.

Tell me again how not joining the NRA will somehow be a good thing with regard to your RKBA?

Extremely well said. The only thing I would say is at this point in the game, joining the NRA has to be a given. Go ahead and join other groups and give money to other organizations but the NRA has to come first in this case.

Those "wait and see" people aren't going to join no matter what. I'm convinced they're malcontents looking for a free ride and/or an excuse to crap about things.

I am now an NRA member and made a donation to their legislative action segment. I wish he would have spoken against some of the crazy things being proposed, but I understand why he didn't. I think Wayne did a great job!

I absolutely hate that people feel that the NRA is the end all be all for gun owners and rights.

And if you own a gun and don't pay your dues to the NRA your a bad person. And all good gun owners are obligated to be an NRA member and spread the gospel..... Its not a cult!
