This is going to sound really dumb but where do I get the UPS box and label. I've never shipped UPS

You can pick up a box from anywhere, they sell them at Walmart or any office supply store. Box up what you want to ship and take it to the local UPS shipping facility. Stuff like this has to go straight from them. The local place is on the opposite side of the county and they have odd, short hours each day. Call in advance.

You can print the label at home and have them pick it up. You will need a Dangerous Goods Limited Quantity label also. You will need to find a suitable box or buy one from a local store. The label appears below. It must be 4 inches to a side unless the box is too small, in which case it must be 2 inches.

Try your gun club’s true, “physical ad” board.
They will likely sell to non-members also.

These ....boards.... ( hello Miilenials) are made of cork, and kept on a wall. They stick WTS notecards on them.

Ours has .243 and 7mm Mauser, .30 Carbine and .223 (1,000 rds.).
No, these guys don’t ship. Why would they bother?

Hi guys !
Less then a year ago I bought a Sako AV 30-06
Never shoot with rifle before... I been busy with remodeling my house.. so now I am almost done with the house ..and was planing to buy some ammo ..

And btw I couldn't not find smokeless powder anywhere..to do the reloading....
Any tghouts ???
I'll sell you these for a buck apiece and you could shoot them into snow banks and melt them.

Everything is in short supply right now. All ammo, loading components, guns, loading equipment, everything. This panic seems to be lasting longer and effecting more stuff than most of the previous ones. Just hang in there and stuff will slowly begin to reappear.

Oh yeah, nice rifle by the way!
Not really 'in short supply' but very expensive. Put in a putnameofgunhere, on GB and there are a ton of those for sale.

When searching for ammo don't neglect going to a nearby gun show, when you have one in your area. There were heaps of ammo for sale at the gun show I went to last month. Mostly at inflated prices, of course. But I did pick up some surplus M2 ball there at a reasonable price.

I took 3 boxes of Federal 150's to my dealer the other day, as I do not have a 30-06. He gave me some trade credit for them, will be able to put them on the shelf for customers, and didn't have to spend a lot for them. Putting stuff I don't need back into circulation felt good.
I wish more people would be like you... I had my dad order me an M1 Garand from CMP and so now I'm going to reload some 30-06 for it while I endure the grueling wait since it's dadgum near impossible to find ammo that's not at a gun show here in OKC.

Yeah, I've been looking for 30-06 ammo for a while and it can't be found. I remember only a few months ago CMP had some Lake City 30-06 ammo for under a buck a round, but it is long gone. May be a year or so before you see something like that.

If you can reload, and it sounds like you only need powder, go that route. You keep looking, you can find a suitable powder.

I have a CMP Garand that is being processed, so I have been slowly getting the reloading supplies. Just tonight bought 100 rounds of brass for $50 from Midsouthshooters and a Lee case trimmer from FS Reloading for cheap. I already had the other components, so I don't need to buy $2+ a round ammo. If you can reload, go that route.

About 20 years ago I shot in CMP matches. At the time the club still had 30.06 ammunition supplied by the old DCM. The guy running the matches was an alcoholic that needed drinking money. He would sell 240 round ammo cans with the clips for 45.00. Still have 2 cans

Shipping Ammunition How to Ship Ammunition (Cartridges, Small Arms) pretty much covers UPS policy and procedures. The link contains some good and interesting information.

Getting the Package to UPS
Cartridges, small arms may be shipped only through a UPS Scheduled Pickup Account using various UPS pickup services , or through a UPS Customer Center (counters at UPS operational facilities). Note: Cartridges, small arms are not accepted for shipment via UPS Drop Boxes, and may not be tendered to or dropped off at locations of The UPS Store® or any third party retailer or UPS Access Point™ location.

So unless the sender has a UPS account they will not pick up, leaving the shipper to find a UPS customer care center.

I was surprised that shipping to NY is not a problem.

Is a Hazardous Materials Label or Marking Required?
Yes, qualified packages that meet the definition of Cartridges, small arms must be marked with the Limited Quantity black and white marking when shipped by UPS Ground within the 48 contiguous states, UPS Ground Intra-Oahu and Intra-Alaska. Shipping papers are not required.

our local Academy had some last week but at 36$ a box I passed, I was looking for 6.5 Creedmoor and 270 and each of those were 36 or 38$ and that is more than I will spend also, eventually prices will return to normal, I think somewhere around 10-15% more than last year, the last boxes of 30-06 I purchased was 9.99 a box after rebate and I still have some factory ammo priced lower than that,, I don't for see those days returning. I think your best bet for ammo is your big box sporting goods store and check with them on the MORNING they put out their shipments, I've found it's gone around lunch

Maybe go looking in hardware stores in some of the small town`s around you.

I suspect the ammo shortage is being caused by the perfect storm of the riots
of last summer, the election pre and post and the pandemic.
