Some of you have seen my thread about which gun to get for my LE career. Today I bought a Glock 21. I fired the Glock 21, and fired my dads S&W 40. I shot a clip of the 40 first, then I shot a clip of the 45. After the first shot my decision was made.

I hollowed out the target with the Glock, and I couldn't be more happy. I was thinking HARD about the XD, but I figured for a LE carry gun I would be better off with the Glock. Less stuff to break, although my next range gun will be an XD40. Thanks to all who helped me out!

great choice! my glocks have served me well so far and i am sure yours will to. enjoy them, but most of all, stay safe!

Congrats and welcome to the Austrian Army :D

Your officially a Glockhead, now look up GLocktalk, Glockmeister, and Topglock to name a few of the many Glock related websites. There are lots and lots of accessories for your gun. Have fun!

I used to be a revolver shooter and chose a Glock as my first serious semi-auto. I chose it because its simplicity was the closest thing to a revolver I could find in a semi.

I remember that thread. Glad I could help.

Quite a few LE agencies issue or authorize the G21 for uniformed officers. This includes my old stomping grounds, the San Bernardino, CA Sheriff's Dept.

I'm not a Glocker, but the G21 is a great value for the money. Simplicity, reliability, and capacity. The downside for me are trigger, grip angle, size and plastic. But plastic is good when it's really cold outside.

One other thing about the G21. The weigh balance of the gun changes a lot while you're shooting it. 13+1 of 230gr. bullets exiting the grip change the balance a whole bunch, it's something to get used to.

Those are the 3 reasons I went for it over the XD. The XD is an awesome gun for sure, and I WILL get one for my next gun, but I wanted to get a gun that I KNOW will fire every time.

As for the trigger and weight and size, they really felt good to me. I don't like the trigger on my dads 40 S&W Sigma, and with me being a big guy, the full size gun was the way to go for me. I grouped a whole clip all right together and hollowed out my target with the Glock. Plus, who can argue with 13+1 shots of 45? Haha.
