I saw evidence that Ammo Panic is easing

What was a brick before the "panic"
I paid $18.97 for the last bricks I bought in a retail store. Blazer bought in GA last summer. Prices are only triple now. What a bargain!

Are those typical listing prices by the sellers, or did you discover how to find out the actual sales transaction prices?
Those were items that had actual bids on them and were nearing the end, I don't know how to find actual ending prices either (only bought one item off GB in my life and that was a pistol) but several of these had multiple bids and were within a few minutes of closing so unless there was same major sniping they probably ended in that vicinity.

As of this morning there are a lot of .22 listings that have no bids and that is good. One fine seller has two bricks of Blazer for $165 as a starting point with no bids. The guy is so nice he is offering free shipping.

As soon as the flippers cannot double their money they will back off but as long as there are people willing to pay stupid prices for bulk ammo there will be someone willing to rip them off. I fully understand a person paying outrageous prices in order to have something for their gun but why pay crazy prices for plinking ammo?

I was a bit dismayed when Cabela's offered some .22 yesterday in 100ct boxes but limited it to one box. At least they have it available at a reasonable price and if I needed some new boots or a tent I can get a box of ammo too.

Stuff has shown up here in CT but prices are still abnormally high.

As of yesterday in the gun shop:
50 rounds of Federal .38spl LRN was $24.00/box.
50 rounds of Independence .45acp FMJ $23/box.

No 9mm yesterday but i know they had some in the other day.

Bushmaster - I have 3-4 bricks of Winchester Wildcat .22LR bought in the early '90's that cost $9.99/500.

The most recent price for the bulk packs @ Walfart was ~$19 for ~550 rounds.

Stopped in WalMart this morning to get some yogurt, wandered by sporting goods and there I saw 3 boxes of .45:eek:
$40 a box of 100, they left with me of course..
They had .40 also but I'm good on that one.

Walmarts here in FL have been getting stock too. Picked up 3 100 rd boxes of 9mm WWB for $24/box the other day. If you used the Walmart Android/iPhone/iPad app you can see when stock is coming and it's finally to the point where it doesn't all sell out by 7:30AM.

Just a matter of time until its back to "regular" prices and availability, probably by the end of summer.

Keep saving, folks. Prices will normalize and it'll be time to stock up.

Walmart's online inventory program is lousy, the local Walmarts here frequently only update every few days. IOW I might look and it show something in stock, then look at the date and it might be 4 or 5 days ago when they updated it.
I've also walked in an bought ammo off the shelf when online shows they have none. I've had the dept manager tell they haven't had .22 in weeks when online shows they've had it in stock for days....
I wish it worked better.

Went to the local Wally store a couple of days ago and found four 50 round boxes of CCI 22lr in the case. It took me nearly an hour to get a manager over to Sporting Goods. When she arrived she told me (and another guy who had arrived) that they could not locate the keys to the ammo cabinet. By that time I was running late so I left empty-handed. But it was the first time I'd seen any 22 in there in a couple of months...

Rising Prices

Before all this supply and demand / scare situation started with ammo and guns, I was buying 9MM at 9.95 / box 50 - now it is near $40 a box. - Can't see that it is easing where I buy ammo. I buy 9, 40, and 45 and WAS buying 1000 rounds at a time mixed. Used to shoot 150 to 200 rounds a week at the gun range. Now I go once a month and haven't bought ammo since before the end of the year. Just been using what I had - sparingly - hoping the prices would go back down some. However, I am convinced they are not going back down unless the demand drops substantially. Guess it's just the times in which we live but it sure puts a cramp in my range time.

I was at the range the other day, private club. I'd taken my .22 rifle, had put on a scope about a year ago, never got around to sighting it in. As I started to shoot, one guy hollered, "That guys got about $200.00 worth of .22's, anybody wanna help me nab them?" He laughed it off, said he was kidding. As I shot and adjusted the scope, I kept my eye on him. About an hour later, he came by, sat down and wanted to know if I'd be willing to sell him what I had left, I had 3 100 rd CCI boxes on the bench. I told him "NO, how am I going to replace them if I sell them, then I'm out and can't shoot either." I've got about 6K of .22's, not hoarding, but I've picked these up over several years at way less than today's prices. I decided to go shoot some of my stock, I need to get out of the house once in awhile too, but these rummies don't need to think everyone has ammo for sale, just because he has a couple of boxes with him. Sure hoping things make a change though.

I don't get it if you had 6k of 22 why wouldn't you sell him 300?? he would have paid a crazy price or you could have just sold it at a fair price

I stopped by wallyworld today, hate the place but where else can you get a plunger, dog food and shampoo :neener: anyways I was surprised to see they had a bushmaster ar on the shelf. even more surprising the guy behind the counter said there are more in back and they have had them for 3 days now!
