I still have too many Golden Bullets

Grabbed a box of (222 rd. loose) Winchester power points that has had around 25% duds and several ruptured cases. Doesn't seem to matter what gun they're fired from (henry, rossi, heritage). Rotate/restrike doesn't help. Also won't reliably cycle the action in my semi auto.
Been using up my armscor ammo recently, about 1k rounds used so far with only 3-4 duds. It is common to get fliers though (~10%) and it is dirtier than most (as is their .40 ammo).
Bulk pack wise I've been the happiest with aguila.

—summarized the most consistently Unreliable .22LR brand used (Win. 330 etc is “666”! ) , over the last four years, in my standard M&P and Ruger Mark IV.

And I often use these guns during careful intervals to prevent my VZ-58 or PTR-91 (.308) barrels from overheating (less durability) .

Golden Bullets or Thunderbolts are 2 brands I will not buy ever. Even when the .22 ammo shortage of 2012-2014 was going on and those 2 were it, I still wouldn't buy it.

I have found varying levels of recoil, report and accuracy/consistency - all from the same box of ammo.

Federal bulk pack (black/red box), Auto Match and CCI Blazer are my go-to for off the shelf ammo.

Yup, they are pretty bad, Ignition Override. Of the loose-packed BULK 22LR ammo I've used, the FED Blue box is pretty decent, but the WIN M22 is excellent for what it is. I'm still flush with these, but I'll buy more when I get low IFF they still perform as I expect them to.

My Taurus Tx22s love GBs. Never any ruptured cases from all the boxes I've bought the past few years.
Same for me and my TX22. I recently traded several boxes of Federal Automatch for an equivalent amount of GB's. My pistol HATED Automatch- keyholed, patterned like a shotgun, etc. GB's shot accurately, never malfunctioned, left round holes, etc. But, maybe insufficient data. I've only shot about five thousand rounds of it from widely varied vintages..

CCI first choice.
Aguila not bad.

Back in the 1960s Remington Golden Bullets were good. Since then, GB quality has been inconsistent. Recent GBs have been good, not as great as I remember, but I have 50 GBs left. Good excuse to go to the range tomorrow. Yeah!

You would think in this modern era of sophisticated computer controlled machinery, quality would improve.

Unfortunately, and sadly, with the quest for ever more profit through cost cutting, the opposite has been true.

I’ve shot about 30K golden bullets and they are among the best ammo I’ve tried. It’s recommended in a couple of my .22 conversions. Interesting how different people have such different opinions and experiences. I’ve never had a split case or burst rim or anything that I’ve noticed. I don’t buy bulk Winchester of any flavor anymore however.
