"New" Golden Bullets

If your gonna try a higher grade .22 bullet and go after other brands. Why dont you shoot the Remington Yellow Jackets, there just as good as stingers.

I bought a few cases of this ammo about a decade ago.

A decade ago the Remington Golden Bullet bulk packs were great, but five or six years ago something changed with it, and Thunderbolt, that made them not worth buying at any price!

If "new and improved" actually means the way it used to be, it'll be great! Competition is a good thing.

Since the RGBs have been lousy for the past dozen years or so, I'll wait to hear good reports for the next dozen years or so before putting any money out for their stuff again.
I'm with you. I don't trust Remington.

People tell me Remington centerfire ammo is good, but why chance it? Why lay out a couple of thousand dollars for an elk hunt, just to hear a "click" when you've got a 6X6 in your crosshairs?

The stuff is still dirty, hands are a mess after shooting, but seem to be more reliable and fairly accurate. At least in my 22/45.

In my old (40's) Savage rifle, about every third shot blows gas into your shooting glasses, but this never happens with Federal or Winchester.

With Rem. "Thunderslug" .22 LRs in my Savage, every other round blows gas into your face.

Does this happen to anybody with the "new, improved" ammo?

I don't trust Remington.

I've never had any issues with Remington centerfire handgun or rifle ammo.

But their failure to address the long term problems with their rimfire products is inexcusable. Whatever the quality of their "new and improved" 22lr stuff, it's way too late, in my book. I seriously doubt that I'll ever give it a chance. Everything else on the market has been much better for much longer.

I've just found that Federal bilk runs great in my squirrel rifle and Winchester bulk runs good in several other .22s I have. My son has an old Romanian trainer that for some odd reason shoot absolutely EVERYTHING to the same point of aim. I am puzzled but happy for him.

In short, no reason for me to shell out cash on Remington again when others are available. If they dry up, then maybe.
