Continuing in the effort to divert yer attention from the cacaphonous caterwauling of pandering politicos in an election year...I hereby give ya the following postulate

THE BROWNING HI POWER IS THE ULTIMATE ALL AROUND HANDGUN..

The rationale for this bold, yet so easlily defensaible provocation is a s follows.

1. It fires a cartridge that is ADEQUATE in power for all applications...from target shooting to hself defense to hunting.

2. it has a high magazine capacity, and magazines are plentiful

3. It is very accurate and poiunts naturally

4. It is relaible, strudy and battle proven

5. It is simple to operate, low recoil

6. It fits VIRTUALLY everbody

7. It conceals very well and is light for its size

Whilst some of you may trry to disbause me of this notion you will fail. No ther handgun fits all those criteria. I have spoken

I agree!!:D

BHP

Will confess....I am a diehard revolver fan......with one exception..... my BROWNING HIGH POWER......forged framed....hi-cap mags....will shoot to point of aim......without the use of the sights!!!

Of course I agree! :D

From a post I made on Oct 6th:

It's JMB's final design and one that cured the few known issues with the Colt Government design. It did though, receive a trigger that is not able to be tuned as sweet. Personally, I think it's the best designed pistol of all time. It's reliable as the day is long and will go "bang" in relation to each trigger pull, more than any pistol I know of. Add the comfort level in the hand and the hi-capacity of the double stack magazine and you have a pistol that's tough to beat at any price. That's my opinion, take it for what it costs you.

I must admit, they are good guns. I had one a few years ago and it was all of that. My biggest complaint with mine was that is was VERY prone to rust. I mean, carry it all day, take it off when you get home, pick it up the next day, and there are little reddish brown flecks all over it. It was Parkerized, if that matters... I know I know, I could have had it refinished... In the end I traded it off.

Every now and then I wish I still had it.

I submit that the Glock 26 is the best all around. :neener:

1) It is reliable
2) It is accurate
3) It is easy to conceal
4) It is pretty much rustproof
5) It can hold up to 17 rounds, if that is important
6) It is in an adequate caliber
7) Everyone that has fired mine found it to be comfortable to shoot

:D

You know wild, on this one I think we agree.

I couldn't afford an FN pistol so I picked up a mil-spec FEG clone.... nice nice nice.

I have tried and tried, to the tune of a couple thousand dollars, to like the BHP but I just can't. It doesn't really fit me, I think it a little large for the 9mm cartridge, a little heavy for a 9mm, and I think it a lot ugly. Makes a Glock look positively cute in fact. I just can't get into the BHP. I am totally in love with the CZ-75 though so go figure, my only complaint with the CZ is it is way too heavy for a 9mm. To each his own.

Yep, I have to come very close to total agreement with you, WA. I owned 16 of them at one point in time. Now I'm down to just one, the original BHP I bought, new, as my first self-purchased pistol in 1979.

The only reason I disagree, and then only slightly, is that my (almost) daily carry is my P229. The BHP is just too nice to subject to the abuse I put the SIG through every day.

It does get out with me on special occasions, though.

Regards,
Rabbit.

Ummmm....I disagree:uhoh:

I would have to say the CZ 75 using your argument. But...not even that. The High Power cannot be used as a LEO weapon in most departments....SA. The CZ75 is a bit heavy for cocealment to all but the tightest belts. That being said....Hi Powers bit the web of my hand...ouchy.

My Browning hi-Power is a great all around handgun, but being the ultimate all around gun I have to disagree. Were it capable of the first shot being double action without having to carry cocked and locked I would be more in agreement. Nothing against the hi-power at all, but I do prefer my 3rd generation Smith's.

Humbug !!!!

The hammer will bite you and it’s a bear to detail strip the lockwork. We won’t go into that god-awful magazine disconector.

But other then that ….

Maybe ….

PS: This is a lot better then politics. Thank you Wild … You did good …
:neener:  :D

I like them but they just don't feel right for me. Particularly the latest iteration of their grips. Apparently they're only selling to lefties now?

It feels OK, but it's no CZ 75. I like single actions but the erogs of the 75 work much better for me for pointability and quick follow-ups. The CZs are also cheaper which doesn't hurt ;)

Still tempted to pick one up someday. I've always thought they were very good looking.

There's already over $20,000 in guns on the list ahead of it though so, it will be a bit of a wait.

Even though I don't own one now, a BHP is the only weapon that has actually saved my life (twice).

Yet, I would disagree that it is the "Ultimate" due to the magazine safety.

My Glock 17 is lighter and easier to carry. My Glock 26 comes even closer to being "Ultimate", but for me, a Kahr PM9 is the gun that goes with me everywhere.
