My dad had his hip replaced last week, among other health problems... Anyway, he is beyond being able to defend the home and I am starting my new gun shop job a few cities away this week. I packed away dads Colt Gov .380 and pulled out a 3" Model 10 for mom to use (for ease and reliability)
She hadn't shot a gun since 30 years earlier when dad tried to teach her. Unfortunately he handed her a loaded gun... She had it in her hands with a finger on the trigger and then turned toward dad to ask, "what do I do now?" Well, long story short she didn't hold a gun for another three decades.
I ran her through the safety routine, the operation routine... then had her watch while I shot 6 rounds. Over the course I worked her up to +P She did good! And I feel better now that she has had some experience with it, knows what to expect!
I think she had fun too!
