My wife and I visited H&H Gun Range in Oklahoma City today.

Great Googlie Mooglies!!!!

It is, without a doubt, the finest firearms business I have ever personally set foot in.

And I've been to Shooter's World in Phoenix. It's really fallen off since the old Shooting USA episode done on it.

But H&H is it.

They've got over 13,000 square feet of space. They are planning on adding about 7500 more.

They've got more handguns (and more types) for rentals than any gun store in Fort Smith has for sale.

I mean when's the last time you went to a range and saw a separate display case for the cowboy action revolvers available for rent?

They've got handgun range, rifle range, and air gun range. They've got a Jr. Olympic shooting program there. They've got classroom space, and CCW classes and private lessons, and you name it, they've got.

They've got HKMP5's available for rent.

When's the last time you saw an M1A available as a rental rifle on an indoor range?

Their retail area was quite simply mind-blowing.

If you call them, they've got a computerized menu with several selections.

Their gunsmithing operation has its own menu selection, and in fact, we didn't make down to the gunsmithing area, the store was so big.

Here's one more piece of evidence. It's the only, and I do mean only firearms retail store that was big enough for me to forget where I parked my vehicle when my wife and I walked out the front door.

We went out a different door than the one we came in, and were about 150 feet from where I parked.

Wow.

You guys in OKC are really lucky.

That's what the guy who worked there told me....13,000 square feet.

Check their web site for their job openings. They are looking for folks to work in their cafe.....that's right, cafe. And they are planning on making the cafe "full service" according to the folks I talked with earlier today.

Yeah, they bought the space from next door, tore down the walls and almost doubled the size of the store. I happen to have an M1A Scout/Squad on lay a way there right now.:)

I've been looking at their site on the web. I will be in Lawton towards the end of August for my son's Army graduation. Hopefully on my extra travel day, I can sneak away from the wife for a while and take a road trip to H&H. (Or,Maybe the wife would go and finally shoot) Looks like a really cool place to visit.

What a coincidence - We drove by it today on I-40 on our way to our new home in NM. The sign caught my eye and I was thinking, "Dang, I wish we could stop and work off a little fanny fatigue from this road trip. I mean, I have all my guns in the U-Haul . . . . .

H&H celebrated its 25-year anniversary as a business this past week with a manufacturer's weekend where you could buy a $3 ticket and pick any gun from any manufacturer to shoot, ammo included (usually 5 rounds). Manufacturers present were Glock, SIG, Kahr, S&W, Wilson, ParaOrd, Springfield, and others I can't recall right now. I bought three tickets and chose to shoot a Kahr P9, S&W M&P40, and a ParaOrd LDA.

On Friday night, I was pleased to be among about 100 guests at a celebratory dinner (smoked buffalo and stuffed quail) and listen to a presentation by Michael Golden, president/CEO of S&W, on the turnaround of S&W and their plans for the future. They just moved their stock listing (SWHC) from AMEX to NASDAQ and have tripled their earnings per share over the last two years.

As noted by the posters above, the owners, Miles and Jane, have plans to continue to improve their operations. They have been recognized at the highest levels of the shooting sports industry and it doesn't look like they are going to rest on those awards.

H&H is where I have MY range membership. Great place. I recommend them highly. They have a monthly newsletter that you can subscribe to. A couple of years ago, Jerry Miculik gave a demonstration there. They have all kinds of activities thoughout the year. They are open every day of the year except for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

H&H is definately a great store. Their marksmanship and CCW classes are first rate with some excellent instructors. The staff is always busy and ready to help. You just have to watch their pricing. They tend to run a little high. Its still a great place to go and :what: all the nice toys we wish we had the money to own.
