Fnx40. Not owned, but made in America at least. I love my FNP45
Aren't some Glocks actually made here now?
Yep, seven round .357 Magnum is looking better and better. To the OP...
Based on your criteria for not trusting the Ruger SR40, you will eventually run out of guns to trust. Every brand on earth has a few that need attention from the factory.
There's a lot of fine pistols made outside the US, but if that's one of your criteria the only two I can think of that meet your other criteria are the:USA made
If you do not like Glock (some are marked Made in USA on the slide) then professional's choice would be S&W CS40 (with rich boys choice being S&W 4040). Sadly both can now be found only on second-hand market as plastic-framed stuff brings better profits (actually much better profits). Here's my deal. I have two carry guns and I try to be proficient with both. I have a 340 PD and a Ruger SR40c. The S&W has been impeccably flawless, but that's not what this post is about. Sometimes I want to carry an autoloader with more ammo capacity. I've always been a revolver guy and cut my teeth on single action Rugers so I wanted my CCW carry autoloader gun to be a Ruger, too. So I got the SR40c and have enjoyed it immensely until recently. When it stopped firing. Which is a big deal. Light strikes. Apparently somewhat common.
If your SR40 (or SR9) hasn't had the light strike problem I don't need to hear about it. Because mine has. It plagues some pistols, and not others.
I keep my guns clean and maintained. The striker channel and pistol is clean. I purchased and installed the stiffer (really actually longer) striker spring from Galloway Precision. It helped a little but still only maybe 3 out of 5 rounds on average fired. My SR40c is en route, as we speak, to the factory. I don't know what they are going to do to it because their technicians don't come to the phone. So, cool. They fix it. I get it back. It fires. But, um, I don't trust it anymore, sorry. No, I'm not sorry, I don't trust it anymore. Once bitten twice shy. Sorry to have to say all that but I'm looking for a better CCW autoloader:
Compact
All black (or camo)
.40 cal
USA made
forget price at this point
the two magazine capacity (9 and 15) that the SR40c had was ideal
Please don't ask me why I haven't considered Glock. I have as much respect for Glock as Anderson Silva now has for Chris Weidman. But I don't want a Glock. I have my reasons.
So, please educate me on reliable .40 cal carry guns that fit my criteria.
I'm grateful for your time. Seriously!
